TotalBiscuit has cancer

I generally find with Youtube celebrities (and perhaps celebrities in general) that any serious dislike I have of them actually represents more of a dislike of their fanbase and the marketing and hype that surrounds them. Ideally, if you don't like something, you can simply just ignore it to some extent - they're not forcing their opinion on anyone - but the unfortunate reality is that you can't hang around the community long before encountering some fanatics who seem to completely lack the ability to have their own balanced opinion. I can understand a sort of hate by extension here, ie. if a Youtube celebrity dies, hopefully the cult they inspired will die too, but it's not deserved.

For what it's worth, while I'm certainly not a follower, I enjoy his videos from time to time - he's a bit silly, but he raises a few good points and a few laughs. Discussing this over footage of Surgeon Sim is brilliant. :D Best wishes to him.

Never saw much of his stuff, but a lot of the comments in this thread disgust me.

"Being a dick" is just another form of comedic output, just as valid as any other. Loads of comedians are dicks and make offensive jokes, that doesn't make them actually bad people. There's really terrible people out there; people that beat, rape, kill, molest, etc. There are thieves that steal billions of dollars and put millions of people in poverty for generations. Instead of getting outraged about those people though everyone wants to wish death upon comedians or artists because their work, opinion, expressions, or style offends them.

Humans are pretty nasty creatures. Punishing or being outraged at people for thought crime is ridiculous. People act as if wishing someone had cancer is the same as actually poisoning people's land/air/water and giving them cancer, which is something people actually do with very little outcry or backlash compared to the press and outrage people aim at dudes who are famous or just trying to be funny.

If this dude literally gave someone cancer on purpose out of spite then he deserves it, otherwise go fuck yourselves for hating on him ya wackos.

Eek, I'm sorry to hear that! I was close to having Cancer when I was 19, since I had a dangerous pre-cancer condition. Luckily, after two different types of operations, they got it all fixed and it's not returned.

Cancer is a pain in the ass.
