How many Booster Packs have you found so far?

So far i've found 8. ( + made 9 with one foil. )

  • Counter Strike:GO ( Opened - No Foils. )
  • Team Fortress 2 x2 ( Opened - No Foils, Sold. )
  • Half-Life 2 x2 ( Opened - No Foils. )
  • Don't Starve ( Opened - No Foils. )
  • Beat Hazard ( Sold. )
  • Left 4 Dead 2 ( Opened - No Foils. )

How can I get a booster pack?
Once you have received all of your card drops, you become eligible for a booster pack, which is a set of 3 trading cards that may include both basic and foil cards. Booster packs are granted randomly to eligible users as more badges are crafted by members of the community. Make sure you log in to Steam each week to maintain eligibility.
Once eligible, your Steam Level increases your rate of receiving a booster pack drop: Level 10: +20% increase in your drop rate Level 20: +40% increase in your drop rate Level 30: +60% increase in your drop rate Level 40: +80% increase in your drop rate Level 50: +100% increase in your drop rate (i.e. the rate has doubled) Etc.

how do you get the booster packs? do you have to be playing the game to get it or you just randomly get it no matter if you are ingame or not?

Once you have got all the free drops for a game you have, you become eligible for booster packs.

A booster pack is given to a random user every time you/another user (?) crafts a badge from a complete set of cards (possibly within the scope of that game - I received a FTL Booster Pack but don't have all those cards. I did, however, complete an Offspring Fling set.)

I know about the eligible thing and so I am eligible for a few games and I crafted a badge for L4D2 last night and got mystery card and nothing else :/

As I said, they're delivered randomly to eligible users. Valve have hinted that a booster is given to someone once a badge is crafted and it may or may not be game specific i.e.

case 1: if someone crafts a FTL badge, a random eliglble FTL owner gets the drop

OR

case 2: a random booster drop for any game happens when a badge from any game is crafted
