oh when I read San Marino I even thought he was living here since I'm really near to San Marino (the country, didn't know there was an American town with the exact Italian name)..
well, rest in peace and thanks for sharing from me too!! I'm in my 30s and so Spongebob came out too late for me but he did so many things apart from that cartoon, as I'm reading, that he definitely deserves more recognition! RIP!

While I am old enough that the cartoons that I was watching as a child looked like this
Sponegbob had some great entertainment value for me as a teenager. Even now almost 20 years later I find myself projecting character traits from the series to some of the people I encounter.
Spongebob had a unique style and appeal to older viewers as well, while lacking the seriousness / political tone of certain new Simpson episodes.
