So what was the name of the last game you ever pirated and Why?
I ressntly had to pirate a copy for Mass Effect 3. I bought a key, activated it in Origin, next day the game was gone! Origin support was just painful. They kept me bouncing back and forth from EA help to Accounts Help! After a month I just gave up!

Do you pirate games?

View Results
Yes, I pirate them regularly.
Yes, I can't afford to always buy original copies so sometimes I pirate.
I only do it after I have paid for the game at least once or if it is abandon ware
No, I never pirate a game no matter what!
Does Assassin's Creed IV count?

It was Dragon's Dogma just to see if I would like it and if it could run (That's the only reason I do it is just to see if I can run it since I usually don't have disposable income to allow me to buy every game i'm interested in.

I'll probably do the same for Xcom 2 as I'm not even sure I can run that game and I really hope I can.

King's Field, to check PSX emulator (I am a PC boy) and try this early From Software game. Suprisingly keyboard turned out to be very handy. Game is unforgiving, heh.

PES 2015, because Konami decided to remove the game from Steam SEA region and there is no other way to legitimately buy it for PC.

In Iran, ppl will laugh at U if U say U buy original game. the reason is in most games the pirated copy includes all game features. and the games cost more than what it should be for us. Iran is Boycotted. so steam cd-keys dont work for us. damn situation here. If I could, I would buy all my games from steam, but...

It's the same here in India! Most guys I knew in school were shocked that I BOUGHT an original disc of the game! They bought the pirated disc for 1/4th the price(and they claimed that was original too XD)! Are you able to buy games from GOG? At least that's DRM free!

No I can't. I can't buy from any store! I just can buy walllet codes or gifts from some Iranian traders who live in US or Europe. and the price difference in Iran is like 5% of the Original copy For a AAA game.

So you pay 5% extra? And you can activate Steam keys bought from elsewhere?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No!price of a pirated copy is almost 5% of the original game.this is why gaming consoles aren't so popular in Iran. Regulary we should pay 10to20% more than the price of a game if we want to buy original copies.but the thing is we should pay for games that are bought with US dollor. The problem is here. Our money value is low so when Iran's currency exchanges to US dollor, it will cost so high

At least you can activate some games on your account! I think the only other solution for you is moving to another country! XD

You can wait for a sale if you're not in a hurry to play the game. I already have a backlog of games to play! Keep buying original games, you're paying for a service, after all!

Actualy I can't pass the borders. In Iran, like many countries, men should do 2 years of service for country(govenment). I think the only solution for this is "nothing" or "get uses to it"

My system isn't so good so I usually download big titles before i buy and it gives me the chance to try them too. Last one was Dragon's Dogma. I think I will download new Tomb Raider too. If my laptop can handle the game okay i might buy it.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is protected by the new version of Denuvo, i think you'll see it on sale (maybe Steam Summer Sale) for 15€ before you'll be able to pirate it :)

The Operative: No One Lives Forever and No One Lives Forever 2.

Two of the first games that I played when I started PC gaming. If only they are available on steam or GOG, I would've bought them instantly.

Don't know if it counts. .. pirated Battlefield 1942 at a LAN party on a Friday night so I could play with my friends then went to the game store on the Monday and purchased a copy. That was a long time ago now. Nothing pirated since.

That was a FIFA game (though I don't remember which year that was). I found the demo to be to small to make a decision to buy it or not. I only used it as a extended-demo, so I didn't play it extendedly. (I don't even remember if I bought the game afterwards or if I decided to not, but I didn't had it on the PC for long). The last really pirated games are a loooong time ago, so long I don't even remember. I only know I definitely had Anno 1604 as a pirated version, but you can imagine how long this is ago.

A visual novel. If there are no official translations and only fan translations, there's nothing much you can do. Steam has some visual novels, but unfortunately only a small selection and censored versions only (if there are no patches, that's a big letdown).

There is a missing choice option in that list and that might be "I pirated all my life but since Steam, Humble Bundle etc came up with fine prices i quit pirating." Many people will agree with that.

That's for any abandonware for me.
