crash every 2 minutes = FAIL EXAGGERATION ALERT

EDIT : What did I start.

I wish the decision of which browser to use could be based just on one thing. :/ Chrome's got the best performance and compatibility, but is only really designed for tabbed browsing which I hate, the customization is quite limited. Firefox is fairly customisable (and has the best addon support) and offers decent performance/compatibility, though the devs are currently making some terrible changes and it's getting silly having to install more and more extensions and hoping they still work with the next version. Opera's UI is pretty much perfect - can customise it almost exactly the way I'd want it - but the performance and compatibility aren't so good. If when Opera change to Blink (the new Webkit) they keep the UI as good as it is now while also keeping the performance of Chrome, I can see it becoming my main browser.

I moved from FF to Chrome because FF started crashing for stupid reasons. Chrome proved also to be faster at that time.
I've haven't had any issue so far.
I still have FF installed, just in case. :)

True.

What I meant by linking that was that if Chrome crashed as regularly OP is saying it is etc. and was as crap as they say, then why is 44% of the world's browsing done on Chrome? Don't you think that those people would have changed their browser if Chrome really is as bad as OP thinks?

Before choosing a web browser, think of what you want from it. I think most people want a fast, reliable, low ram consuming browser. I have installed a few browsers, and in the end, firefox was still better for me. It's the one with less ram consume, it's very reliable (been using it for years, and it crashed like, 2/3 times), It's as fast as any other browser (differences here are insignificant, unless you're on cocaine).

I use it with 3 wonderful addons, adblock plus , noscript and downloadhelper. I've tried google chrome with the same addons (or similar, in case of noscript and downloadhelper), and firefox just behaves better, and faster. I'm a fan of google products (I don't care they invade my privacy, I've got nothing to hide), and I would like to change to chrome, BUT firefox is still better.

Another thing I love in firefox, is the customization, when I learned how to use the about:config and UserChrome.css, it lets me do whatever I want to it, now, I've got an interface of my choice.

So, before choosing a web browser, please try them (they're all free), and think of what you want from them, don't go yelling "That is crap, this is better"

If you want reliable, that's the stable browser Chrome. Firefox is about saving memory only for alot of tabs.

I don't know if it still applies but as long as Chrome (or any other browser for that matter) forces you to have tabs on top, I will never use it.

Then good luck not using any browser, cause all PC browsers are like that.

I meant above the url bar. Maybe you misunderstood? In some browsers you have an option to have the tabs below the url bar, which used to be common before Chrome. In my opinion there's absolutely no reason to have the tabs on top unless you're using a small resolution.

You omitted out that part, so I only replied according with the info I had at the point in time.
The old Firefox may have used to have that, but now it's on top as with Chrome. Opera also has it currently so your life is going to suck if you pick on such a tiny thing.

You can change the location in Firefox or at least in Pale Moon by right clicking the tab bar and unchecking tabs on top.

As for why they have it on the top, it's because a lot of people do have laptops, and the laptop screens have usually less than 15' for the screen. On top of that, quite a bunch of models use a fixed max resolution of 1366x768. That alone prompted the browser makers to do the change.

No it's really not. Chrome is better for handling crashes and just abit slightly faster while Firefox takes less memory than Chrome when you got many tabs open. Opera is not as popular as it used to be and Netscape is nearly non-existent to most people nowadays. IE on the other hand is garbage and everyone recognizes that. That's why most countries have either Chrome, Firefox or some other browser that's not IE.

I use Chrome to let it do jobs for me... I am using it without:
-Javascript
-HTML
-Images
-Cloud Synch.
-Plugins

Works perfect that way!(Ofc it fills up my memory quite easily :P)

I switched from Chrome to Firefox not a long time ago, imo Chrome was much faster with smoother scrolling.. often it crashed with heavy flash content, though Firefox has much better Addons and it's being updated more often.

Both are fine but i'll stay with Firefox for now.

I'm kinda dissapointed that Firefox mobile is not compatible with my smartphone though.. (HTC Desire)

Chrome - Fast, responsive, never crashes
Firefox - Slow, clunky, resource-hungry
IE - Best UI, worst rendering engine, no support for modern features (still prefer it to FF though)

Hmm... though choice... but I think I'll ignore your personal problems and stick to Chrome even though I have all 3 browesers installed for various reasons

You need to reevaluate your knowledge of browsers.

My knowledge of browsers is fine, thank you. I've been using pretty much every browser out there since the days of Netscape 1.x/IE 1.0/NCSA Mosaic. I don't do web development anymore but a few years ago I had pretty much every browser under the sun installed on my PC.

Your mileage may vary, but on all my PCs the above stands true.

Times change, most browsers get regular updates. :p

Chrome is a bit faster but the addons > chrome so i'm sticking with FF :p

I know time changes, but I've seen the evolution of all those browsers and while FF was once the best it fell off that podium IMHO.

All the addons I want to use are available on Chrome, so it's not an issue for me. I still keep FF installed and try stuff on it from time to time but it's only there as a backup browser for me behing Chrome and IE.

Maxthon, only Maxthon. I have enough of this mainstream web browsers, Firefox is eating RAM like crazy, Chrome is destroying every flash plugin, IE n/c (although, IE10 was kinda okay on Win8) and Opera is crashing as hell when you have opened more than three sites.

RAM is here for a reason, it's meant to be used. You can buy 4GB RAM for about $35, i dont think it's much.

I have plenty of RAM but because of this RAM consumption, all OS can get really crazy. It's still better than this RAM issue in old Firefox ;p
