STEAM BROWSER!

Which uses Webkit so it renders like Safari and Chrome do. Too bad it's just so unoptimized :P

I hear there's a way to "skin" out webkit, but so far I haven't even seen a proof of concept.

Now that would be interesting.

In all honesty, I just wish it weren't two to three times faster to open up any other browser and go to store.steampowered.com than it is to use Steam's interface. Also, TABS. I cannot compare and keep track of the store items I'm interested in without tabs.

OMFG ... herp derp ... my Chrome is crushing so much ... I should close some of the 180+tabs ... maybe ... just maybe, but dunno, why Chrome doesn't work properly.

Actually,

chrome is pretty strong, handle flash very well, and can even handle like 40 or something tabs on my kinda old notebook.
So, its alll fineeeeeee! :)

I can keep upwards of 100 tabs open spread across several browser windows. You might say I'm a tab hoarder.

I like both for different things, chrome is a generally fast browser that has a sleek format and is good for downloads. Firefox on the other hand has a more reliable solution so I generally use it for important work and such.

A browser so cool and awesome that the people who made it created a website dedicated to eliminating the browser from existence, because they only wanted cool people like themselves to get to use it.

If you have a 64 bit machine, use Cyberfox.
I agree that FF is apparently less responsive than Chrome, but FF has a lot more features.
For instance, how do you get Chrome to tell you how large an image is (in bytes)? Until now, they still haven't implemented something as simple as that...
Chrome has also given me a few strange issues in the past, but that doesn't stop me using it on my work PC since it's a little slow to run FF.

Ultimately, if you need features, go FF. If you want speed, go Chrome (or Iron if you want Google's tracking removed).

You could probably find an extension for that, or write one if you can't.

Yes because obviously if one person is too illogical to use google and figure out why their browser isn't working instead of blaming the browser, we should all definitely stop using that browser. Seems legit.

But actually, Netscape is where it's at guys. Jump on the Netscape train with me.

I switched from FF to Chrome a while back. Still missing some of the things FF did, but overall I was tired of it. It was sluggish, the sync only worked when it felt like it, and I didn't feel like rebuilding my profile from scratch. Chrome sync is awesome. Log into your Google account, and within seconds you have your addons, bookmarks and everything else on any computer.

I tried doing that switch too, just couldn't stick with it as the add-ons I wanted wasn't available on Chrome.

The sluggishness of FF is pretty much a thing of the past though, it's fixed for me and feels just like Chrome does. Sadly, can't say the same for the sync. It's still terrible on FF when compared to Chrome.

What add-ons do you use on FF that aren't available on Chrome?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think the main one was "Boomerang for Gmail" which at the time wasn't available for Chrome. I remember other add-ons such as Autopager working really poorly on Chrome as well though.

I'm sure all that's been fixed since however, it was a while ago.

Now, I'm just sticking with FF out of habit and the fact that since it's basically only the sync feature that I'd want from Chrome... and that alone is not worth the trouble of switching.

Use IE 10. SO GOOD! Well, not really, I use Chrome and it has only conked out once since I switched from Firefox. Used to hold off because Chrome didn't have some of my old plugins, but they're here now so...

But doesn't have sidebar. And no matter what, you can never have all your bookmarks with single mouse click and they still be completely hidden of-screen when not used.

The most important thing for a browser (bookmarks) is so tedious to search/list/pick in chrome and all its plugins. In FF i can fire EVERY single bookmark with single mouse click (2 clicks at worse - depending on how i left them on previous use).

chrome and crashing dont go together unless you either add crappy computer and or multitasking 60 games and 170 tabs at the same time to the mix

Inbuilt flash player crashes every once in a while when I need it. Tis why I turned it off and switched to FF later. Chrome also memory leaks once past a handful of tabs.

I use chrome and firefox. Chrome for light browsing/forum browsing. Since Chrome doesn't support 5.1 audio I use Firefox for multimeadia surfing and anything that deals with heavy java or flash I tend to use Firefox because No script adon and ghostery are just a blessing

Actually, Chrome does support 5.1 audio, but for that you must force it to use external Flash plugin instead built-in one. Refer to this tutorial on how to do that.

I have no issues at all with Chrome other than their new "feature" of massive menus. May go back to ff just because of this new stupid menu system they made and see if ff is any better since i last used it like 2 years ago.
