So I guess the expected-to-be-successful ESO isn't doing so hot.

What about it coming to Steam leads you to the conclusion that it isn't doing so hot? I mean, maybe it's not, I can't say for sure - but that's just a leap of logic in your post.

I wasn't saying it is or isn't doing well. I was merely stating your original post was confusing, as it was a leap of logic. It implied: Game is coming to Steam -> Therefore I guess it isn't doing well

Played through the beta and not particularly interested in playing again, even if its free. The quests were boring, the game felt too linear (at least in the first ~5 hours) and the entire combat system was nothing special. I guess it probably wasn't a terrible MMORPG but I have little interest in generic MMORPG gameplay and it was a terrible Elder Scrolls game.

trolls bashed the game and yet they want it to go f2p so that they can play it. sadly, It will not go f2p :)

no one cares if it goes free to play since this game sucks monkey balls.. you have to pay 30 euros at the moment + monthly subscription? LOL !

It propably will, looking at what they are doing its heading that way. Looks pretty mediocore tbh, the only thing going for it is the brand name. Same thing that happened to SWOTR and countless other new mmorpgs not doing anything original to stand out of the rest.

This game have solid fanbase. almost 3 years now and still skyrim is one of the most played games on steam. you can't compare this game to SWOTR trash lol

Not comparable. Also it would not be a most played game if it wasn't for mods, something you can't do with ESO, it also would not be near the top 3 if it had a monthly subscription. Get off the fanboy train please.

It's worth the price. I played almost 1000 hours so $30+ $15 a month for a thousand hours of entertainment? why not!. just go play tetris mate and scratch your balls :)

I've tried it, kept playing since I trusted the devs would have made it better, but then gave up.

It's dull, the world feels fake and is not interactive, phases are a mess, many NPCs are blinking statues or "on a rail", the story is boring and trite, the gameplay is the same old boring stuff seen in many other MMORPG, combat is not remotely close to Skyrim and even worse than TES:Arena, enemy AI is just stupid... the list could go on.

No, sorry: I wouldn't play even if they paid me to do that.

Hate? No, but there are free MMO's that are better then it, is it a shit shit game? No, its an average MMO, there are plenty of free average ones, this will be worth a play once it goes F2P in a maybe less then a year, maybe longer but it will be free eventually, probably with a cash shop, hopefully with a fair one that gives at least some sort of benefit to buyers/subscribers.

You're joking, right? Even before the game was released, there were so many people, me included, who called it that it was going to be a heaping pile of trash. What did it turn out to be? Worse than that.

I think I'd rather be buying Guild Wars or Starcraft 2 (Different genre I know, but it's F2P after 1 time purchase).

Not a fan of subs. Not even WoW can convince me

In terms of bringing a universe to a MMO , WoW did it better and that's from an RTS.

I expected a lot more from Elders Scrolls in making something groundbreaking and story wise, excellent. Instead they went for a fairly generic MMO in Elders Scrolls universe.

Still always nice to see games come on Steam, easier to manage them from one platform. Lets see how long or stable the population will be for Bethesda, then we can decide if they indeed were going for the 'Milk the cow as long as possible' method or are simply trying to expand their availability with Steam.

I wish more games would go B2P, instead of F2P. I'll never play a subscription MMO again (played EQ for a number of years), but I'd certainly be open to a one-time purchase. GW and GW2 have always been really tempting in that regard, but I'm worried I'll just get sucked in.
