Not really, you might find better book bundles on Humble Bundle, and free daily books from Packt. Udemy also has a lot of free courses (100% sales/discounts) all the time (python, for example). I think reddit tracks them and also coupons and discounts.

Packt doesn't have a good reputation on reddit, so I usually avoid buying anything from this publisher

I have to agree there, I haven't bought anything from them, I just claim their daily free ebook on their site. I also don't like their Humble eBook bundles, I prefer books from other publishers (O'reilly).

Don't waste your time and money on Packt books, almost all of them are garbage.

No, that publisher is generally terrible, lots of incoherent or outdated information and no clear structure. There are some decent publications from them, but it's very, very rare.

CodeCademy offers a free course in C++ and Python2 (3 is not ffree) if you're looking to get started. They're a good place to start if you want a more interactive experience. CodeCademy is also used in schools to teach kids how to code, so it starts really at the basics with no high entry threshold.

If you're completely new to coding, start with Python or Javascript. C++ is not the easiest to learn.
