You probably get them because you're a mod though, or at least a high profile member of this site. You're famous, sir!
I'd also imagine other mods will get a fair few wall posts too, assuming their comment section is also open to public.

pls b me freind,,, ok???
On a more serious note, people wanting to befriend CrystalTheory, PalmDesert and Chedburn purely because they have high Steam Levels and can boast about "knowing" them gives me a good chuckle.

A good looking girl that isn't me.
I've had people telling me my profile picture is virgin bait. Maybe that would explain it.

I also get random people adding me to their friends list. As soon as I turn down their request for free games, however, they remove me.

I have added people from coming across their videos or guides or I add when I have 1 friend in common with them. Also few instances I added and never got accepted, they were probably thinking who the heck is this?
Have also had people add me randomly.
Must also admit when I joined today I have added few people even without them giving me anything in return^^ I think this is a great way to make friends.

I just remove them if that's the case, I don't like my friends list filled with random people. :P

I've had quite a few find me through SG and ST add me, and then asking me to buy them games (some ask for any, some ask for specific ones). I've also got quite a few who randomly add me because I'm in a Steam group they are also in, and then they beg me for stuff.
I've also had some people add me who just want a friend (which I actually find even stranger than the random beggars)

I get random ones all the time. Some from giveaway sites, some related to trades and group buys, and others that just see how many games I have and assume I am an easy target or something. I have learned to actually add them and let them say whatever they plan to say. Some of them are legit adds and I wouldn't have known had I ignored them or something.
One Russian guy wrote me about a DLC I had won on GameMiner. I didn't even know I had won because it had just ended, but he wrote me to tell me he had put the wrong key in it and he wanted to send me the right one. His English wasn't very good and was probably translated. Like I said, I had no clue I had won it. Most people would have removed him when he started out with something like "my English bad". Then he made no sense on the next few lines, talking about a broken code or something. He then linked me to the giveaway that I had won, which I then saw I had won. I tried the key and it didn't work, then I understood what he was trying to tell me. He gave me the right one and after thanking him, we parted ways. I think most people would have blocked him before even realizing what he had to say.
I let them speak, then I politely move on if it is begging or something. I don't toy with people or look down on them. I don't really care. It is worth a little of my time for the random legitimate add that I get. Also, surprisingly, most beggars that I have spoken to have been rather polite and once I said no, sorry, they simply moved on, usually with an apology. I'm not saying they should have done it in the first place, but they are usually more mature than others I have dealt with on Steam.
You never know if it will be something related to you, someone looking for help with something, or a beggar. So I say add them all and see what they actually want. No harm comes from a short chat. I wouldn't recommend clicking on random links or anything, but a little chat won't do any harm.

I only get friend requests from here if I win their giveaway or they win mine... I've never had any random ones and thankfully no beggars. :)

Yup! been on this site for a couple months and received 12-13 invites.. out of nowhere, they were not winners. Just adding me for who knows what.I asked a few why they added me they normally say something along the lines of "i'm new to steam gifts and i figure you can help me out" Even though ALL of them have been members of this site longer than I. Their intentions are to exploit kind people i believe, in one way or another..
I find it humorous.

no ive had people add me because of steam trades though :P

I get this all the time. Sometimes I'm sure they're not from ST though. If they are, they're extreme lurkers/leechers.
99% of random adds I get are begging/attempted scams. Unless I am currently trading on ST of course.

On a side note, if you don't own Trine already, here's your chance.
