they had to of changed the way cookies work.. more and more ppl complaining about it slowly.. those that are not complaining about it are likely on an older unaffected cookie that prevents them from experiencing the same issues we have.

Do you use the 'Steamgifts Steam Ratings' script?
I deactivated it and haven't been logged out for 2 days straight now.
Which is weird, because I tried deactivating all scripts two weeks ago with no success.
Maybe because I tried it before I cleared the cache with CCleaner.
Doesn't really make sense, in my opinion, but stranger things have happened, so I don't know.

strange indeed, that script is not supposed to be touching steampowered.com, only steamgifts.com.. and i never turned off the scripts before, but tried turning off all extensions instead. i guess killing the extension still leaves traces or something. anyways glad its working for you and hope it now will for me2 xD
update: idk if its just early in the morning or me, but i swear both steamgifts & steampowered seem to have faster responsive times now.

On the one hand it would be great if this works, on the other it's kind of a bummer, because that is my favourite SG script.
I personally don't bother with games anymore that have less than 65% positive ratings (in most cases), so that script saves me a lot of time. Another member pointed me to an alternative script which allegedly doesn't cause any logout issues. I'm using it since yesterday evening and I'm still logged in, so that's a pretty good sign.
It's not as neatly integrated as the other script (you have to hover over the game with the cursor and a little window pops up)
and it's not compatible with an enabled 'endless scrolling' function, but it does its job, so I'm quite happy with the current situation.

i dont think there was any malicious parts in the script, but i noticed out of all the scripts i run that one was the only one that did not have a "author" tag in it. i have a feeling whoever wrote it knew about its issues and did not want credit due to its issues.

i see, i didnt remember where i got it from, just read thru the top part of the script.. but your right, just cause they did not sign the script itself does not mean anything, really was kinda a bad assumption on my part.
if you click on any one of the scripts inside the dashboard though it shows it to you in raw txt mode and the top part is usually tagged with information like this example of "SG Game Tags"

well... 12hours and still logged in thru restarts and everything.. i would of been logged out twice minimum in that time easily before (if not 4x per hour). idk why but each time chrome updated or changed versions it would calm down and run for longer periods before logout, then drift back to terrible. but this just seems to of fixed it entirely.
thank you so much for figuring it out. i had given up entirely tbh and just avoided steam in browser at all cost.

Have you looked at cookie/ form settings? If Chrome is set to clear cookies/ other temp info every time you exit the program it could be the cause of the issue. It randomly happened to me with Firefox a while back but playing with what gets cleared when I close the window fixed it for me

No, that's unfortunately not the case. I don't even have to close the tab or browser.
If I refresh or click on any link on the store page after about 10 minutes I have to log in again.
The Steam store page is also the only website where this happens.

Ah, bummer. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Maybe dig around in the Steam settings within the browser if that's even an option? I saw in other comments you've tried other browsers, I'd just try them all if you haven't already. If it's the same problem in IE/Edge, Firefox, Chrome, AND Opera, you can pretty confidently say it's an issue with Steam and not the browser. If all else fails, maybe contact Steam support. In two years you can come back and post your answer

i sent in a ticket and told them to look at how their cookie distribution is handled and see if there is issues and explained the problem and my attempts to solve it.. though its likely ill just get a "trying unplugging it and plugging it back in" type response, i am desperate.

If someone only used Chrome, Firefox is a mighty big change, even if Mozilla Chrome-ified it a lot a few years ago. I advised him Opera because it is essentially a faster Chrome without all the bullshit.

when i visit http://store.steampowered.com//login/ (no https) it automatically forwards to https://store.steampowered.com//login/ (with https) so it was never possible for me to even try logging non-secure. im not sure how anyone could be trying to login non-secure.

your saying that the login doesnt matter https or not, this is a trick to keep it logged in on the store side by visiting the communities side with secure (https) prior to visiting the store side??
my only issue with that is both Heisenbear and I do not even have to leave an already logged in store page tab. we're logged in happily browsing thru the store, then we click on a game we wanna look at and plop, we're no longer logged in. not after closing the tab or session or browser out at all. this does sound like it has merit and can help the very similar issue of DNS timeouts trying to talk to the steam store and it makes it appear like your not logged in when you are. but i dont think it will quite do the trick here.

i found that when we get logged out, our loginsession cookie goes completely missing.. ive even tried manually editing cookies and altering the time/date and they still just go missing.

I had this too for the last 3 months. I would have to relogin almost on every page load.
I would visit a forum page. type a reaction and the moment I hit send my session was already gone again, losing my reaction to post.
Incredibly annoying. I tried everything and also searched the internet for other people having this problem. Couldn't find anything that would help though.
Now however suddenly it's gone.
I went to a LAN party with my computer and logged in from another IP address. Suddenly all was ok again. My sessions would stay and I didn't need to login over and over again. Even when I got home, it stayed that way. And now I'm 3 weeks going without a lost session.
Why? I have no idea.

Hmm, I just noticed something interesting. Currently I'm not getting logged out for inactivity (short inactivity, at least), it happens only when I'm closing the browser altogether. But, surprisingly, it seems that I'm not getting logged out at all: when I open Chrome, go to Steam store, leave it for about 2 minutes - then I'm logged in again! Tried it a few times - works for me.

I had the same issue and it started after I installed a couple more user scripts for SG. After I've disabled them and only left the two running that I was using before it stopped logging me out of the Steam store. I haven't figured out which one the culprit is but I might go through them one by one to figure it out when I'm not as tired as I am right now.

For the most part, I'm in the same position as you--if I close my browser I need to log in again. (For privacy reasons I delete all my cookies every session, so I expect this sort of thing.) But here's an idea: I use an addon in Firefox called 'Session Manager.' With it, I can save all the tabs in one session to restore later, even if I close the program or shut down the computer in between. Within a certain time window, if I save a session where I'm logged in to a site like steam, then when I restore my session I'm still logged in.
It's roundabout, but it could at least save you a lot of the uses of Mobile Authentication.

I've been having this issue for a few months now and it's been bugging the crap outta me. Tonight I started googling the issue because I was fed up with it, lol. And lucky I came across your SteamGifts thread! I disabled the scripts I had active for SteamGifts and this has (so far) stopped me from being logged out on browser every time I visit store pages. I don't think you have to disable all the scripts.
Have you tried to only deactivate the 'Steamgifts Steam Ratings' script?
This was the one that caused the issue (for me and many others).
I have 5 other scripts running with no problems at all.

Click Tampermonkey extension icon in top right corner, then dashboard. Inside that list you should see "Steamgifts Steam Ratings", and off to the left-hand side a toggle on/off switch, toggle that specific script to the off position, and problem should go away. xD
if that script is not located in there, then your problem may be different. but that was the solution for at least 4-5 users.
update: if that does solve your issue and you want an alternative for that script - Daerphen's Scripts has one called 'sgtags.users.js' and it works differently, but has the same effect.

Necroing/bumping this one, because I got the perpetual logout issue with even private browser sessions on my safety browser, so it was not a script. Then I recalled that there is an option in the Steam client's Settings, under Account, to go into Steam Guard management and de-authorise all devices. Apparently, one of the PCs I used got a stuck login info and it constantly logged me out. De-authorising fixed the issue.
I thought this was mentioned here as a possibility, but not this explicitly.

For about two weeks, everytime I open up the Steam Store page in my browser (Chrome) I have to put in my login information and use the Steam Authenticator. Before that, I only had to do this when I logged in from another PC.
I didn't install any new software or changed any settings.
Anyone having similar issues? Does somebody maybe even have a solution for this?
Things I've tried:
Deactivated 'Enhanced Steam' extension
Deactivated all extensions
Reset Chrome to default settings
Created a new user profile
Switched browser to Opera
Cleared cache with CCleaner
Changed IP
Nothing worked so far... :(
UPDATE: It seems like disabling the script 'Steamgifts Steam Ratings' did the trick for me and for everyone who used that script and also experienced that issue.
UPDATE 2: You don't use scripts and you still experience this issue? Here's a possible solution by Talgaby:
