I was wondering I have a bunch of keys I have entered into steam trying to see(if) it was possible to directly turn them into a "gift" option. And of course it told me that my account already had the game listed on it..etc..etc..

I was wondering are those keys still good? Or because I checked if they worked on my steam first are they now technically used up? Would love to be able to put them up on here but only if I knew they were still working.

If it doesnt work it will say redeemed regardless I think though I forget

You can enter keys and as you as you own the game it will not use up the code

Unless the key comes with something extra like DLC then it will just redeem it

They aren't used since you already own the game, it hasn't been tied to anyone's account. Unless you gave it to someone already.

Yay, exactly wanted I needed to know. I'll go ahead and enter them up on here then. Thank you both very much.

If they're individual keys from bundles, you shouldn't make giveaways for them unless you want to risk getting banned. If you're wondering why, it's against the rules.

Ah thank you, some of them actually are thanks for the tip. Though what do you do with keys from bundles then? Is there a free "free" give away for those or?

You can give them away here on the forums. I think most people would like, if you came up with something like a puzzle that would prevent ninjas from taking the keys. Another possibility could be having people put their name in a GoogleDocs document if they wanted the game and after some time make it uneditable by others and then let random.org (random number generator) choose a name in the list.

  1. Protip: read other threads, this was literally asked 3 hours ago and is just below this thread.
In other words, close thread and move on to the other thread.

2 . As for testing the keys, there's no real way to test it other than plugging them in yourself. Otherwise, I've heard of some people saving keys in spreadsheets to keep track of what they've used. Personally, my rule of thumb is if I'm not sure, I just drop it in chat.
