My brother keeps telling me to play DAO...how long does it take to beat? Is it good? (I assume it is since it's gotten sequels and stuff, but still)

It depends on how many quests you do and how much you pay attention to the story. During my 100 hours I played through the whole of both games, including dlc. That racked up at least 90 hours. Then I did a quick play through which was the rest of the time.
It's one of my favorite games, I would highly recommend it if you are into rpg games:)

I was just idly glancing at this thread and saw your question, albeit two weeks late:). OP is right, though, DAO is an awesome game and one of my favorite rpgs of the past 15 years. Well-deserving of its accolades and praise for taking the philosophy behind the old Black Isle and Bioware rpgs.
I recommend playing as a Dwarf, naturally.

also depends on if you use any mods from the community. DAO has a strong and active group of people that still make stuff for it.

I can confirm that it took me exactly 94 hours to beat Origins + Awakening. A great game, only a bit old if you care a lot about graphics.

It's a great game, one of my favourites.
The battle system isn't very hard, well at least not on easy to normal. On harder difficulties it is necessary but I don't play on those :)

I have nearly 200 hours in DAO and near 90 playing DA2 on Xbox 360. I'm still saving to get DA:Inquisition one of these days. One of the best games I ever played :)

honestly have online play in those kind of genre is kind of... not do any good, look at DAI ,it coop mode is nothing but a abstract from the main game, and a microtransaction bait from EA
