So sad, but I bet she had a really nice life, thanks to a loving family. My condolences for the princess.

I can confirm her camouflage perfectly hides her among the other [idk how those stove things are called in English]!
Sorry for your loss, and may Princess rule a big house filled with unallowed things to jump on.

I am sorry for your loss. I hope that somewhere beyond the rainbow bridge, princess is feasting on honey ham, jumping everywhere and pawing at ALL the papers.

Damn, that's hard... Lost mine in 2014 (also a black beauty), at first it stings like hell, then it becomes easier. She'll remain with you forever (mine still comes to me in my dreams together with my dad and granny all the time), but hopefully after some time you'll be able to adopt a new friend. Don't rush it, you'll feel it when you are ready (took me 7 years, but my 2-year-old ginger kitty makes me very happy these days). You'll get there one day.

We tend to keep two at a time, there's a lot to be said for companion animals and healthy lives. It's just a process for us and our remaining cat friend right now. Thanks for sharing your story btw!

So sad... Very sorry for you and yours, all who loved her.
In my case one day I had a quite healthy cat and next day I had to put her to sleep. One week short to reaching 18. I still miss her.
In our case, she was "the queen". Not to make any comparisons - just that we all put them cute nicknames.

How quick things can turn is mind boggling. I had woken up and she was laying next to me, we go through the day and she seems relatively fine. Next thing you know she's passing in a matter of minutes. It really sends home the fact that we've got to cherish the times we have in the moment because things can flip in an instant.
Thanks for sharing your story, and your contributions too. Love the nickname too. We're all housing royalty haha.

I am really sad to hear about the loss of princess from your family. May she rest in peace.

Happy cakeday! I also agree. They squeeze their way into our lives and it's hard to see them go after that.

I had a furry cousin who lived into his 20th year. Even though I knew he wouldn't live forever and I was prepared for it I still had a hard time letting him go. And I wasn't even seeing him every day.
But as always with these things, grief left in its wake all the good times and I feel like my life is richer for having known him.
Princess is not really gone. We never really go as long someone remembers us. She'll be with you.

Dear CountryFried,
I am so sorry for your loss of your beautiful Princess.
I lost my Mater cat earlier this year on May 31, just before his 17th birthday, also to renal failure.
Princess had a long happy life in a loving home, and you had many years together full of joy and love.
Don't rush your grieving process, take as much time as you need and be kind to yourself. One day you will be able to look back on your memories together with a smile. It may not seem like it now, but with time it will happen.
While she is gone from your side, she will live forever in your heart. 💙
Rest in peace, Princess.

It's really sad how common renal failure is in cats. Their poor little kidneys just can't seem to keep working past a point. Thank you for sharing your story and for the kind words!

What a lovely lady. My condolences for your loss.
Prior to the cats I currently own, my cat just vanished one day and never came back. No closure for me. Alas, all I can hope for is that I gave her the best days she could have had when she was with with. Every now and then I remember and I give my current furbabies some extra love on her behalf.

Happy cakeday! It really is a shame. I think it was up to 20% can encounter kidney diseases before the age of 10 and something like 30% after. It's ridiculous how common such issues are. The sad thing is cats with kidney problems will struggle if they get sick with anything else since the many meds and treatments require a certain amount of kidney function.

My cat passed today. The sweet 9irl was just shy of 14 this month. Unfortunately, she Had been struggling with renal failure for the last two years and although we kept her going with a number of weekly treatments, she left us thIs evening. My family and I always used to affectionately call her our "princess" and she is sorely missed already. She loved pawing at papers, honey ham, and in her last few years, jumping on things she wasn't allOwed on. My guess is to make up for all the missed opportunities!
I don't have a ton of keys left over right now but it would be a real shame not to put together a little something in remembrance of her. Enjoy a small number of quick weekend giveaways. Level 4 required. Ending October 8th at 7:00PM PDT.
Update: The community has come together and started adding more carts. I think this is a Farewell Train now? At the very least, I believe the number of carts has doubled since I posted this. Thank you—everyone—for your kindness.
Update 2: This was originally just a way for me to send my girl off with some extra positive energy. It's turned into a lot of support, kind words, and really shows the giving spirit of many here. I'm unable to reply to everyone in a timely manner but let me give you a heartfelt thank you here in place of that as I'm trying to catch up with all the comments and well wishes.
