Haven't played it yet, but you're not wrong about being unpleasant, or disgusting. Maybe even bad, considering how old it is, and in what era was it made. It's a game with hyper-violence from the era of overacted FMV games, by today's standards it's a really weird game.
Not sure if it is a good recommendation after these, but I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream very likely could get in the top unpleasant games category, likely along with Darkseed. They made some pretty upsetting type of horror-thriller games back in the time, when they couldn't just get away with jumpscares.

I have it XD
I really like video games that run away from the trite but this was too much for me. Bad dream: coma is also quite peculiar but nevertheless I liked it a lot ... Maybe not using actors

I love FMV games and still have a lot of them to play, but I consider Harvester to be the best FMV game I have played so far. It is probably in my top 30 or 40 games of all time. It is certainly not for everyone though. I wasn't bothered by the gore at all, I actually thought it was fairly tame given the reputation of the game.
I looked up what Dosbox settings to use before playing the game and only had one technical issue, but I already knew about it, so it wasn't a big deal. Every once in a while a cut scene would be skipped. The solution was just to save often and when a scene gets skipped, use a hotkey to lower the cycle count in Dosbox and then reload to just before the cut scene to watch it. I was already saving before every conversation anyway so I could go back and play out every conversation option because I found it so interesting.

The fighting was exasperating. I doubt that even without a bug I could have finished, I passed with very little life.
Harvester was strongly recommended to me and it is undeniable that it is quite an experience XDDD

Indeed, and you have to try things to know which side we're on :)

Harvester is one of my favorite point and click adventure games. I think it's pretty obvious it's a "disgusting"/gory game which should be obvious to anyone who spends the smallest amount of research into the game. All in all I find the gore quite mild especially compared to the gory/horror movies that exist today. The main goal of the entire game is to make you feel disturbed/uncomfortable.
I would argue just because you don't like a game doesn't make it a bad game (I know you said it's just your opinion). A bad game is something that has poor gameplay, story or is riddled with bugs, ... Overall the story is coherent, the gameplay has aged fairly decently and while it may have some bugs, they're fairly limited. I have to say I never really enjoyed the combat-y parts and the acid gimmick towards the end but otherwise it's an excellent game (in my opinion).
I'd recommend the game to fans of point and click adventure games who are interested in an unconventional game and don't mind the gore, very light sexual theme (the screenshots are as risque as it's going to get) and old games. And yes there are some very light combat-y scenes towards the end, which are kind of meh.

Something like that told me the one who recommended it to me. I do not get the point. There comes a time when it seems to me that they even "improvise", as if they had lost sight of their objective and only tried to increase the level of casquero. The combats made me sweat, or are broken or I am very bad (or both) but it is something that, like the graphics, does not bother me either: the videogame is a year old.
It is good to see other points of view. I would even be willing to play it again if there was a kind of videogame "reading club", but my contribution would not vary much from what was said.
Thanks for your contribution: D

The story and characters are certainly over the top and silly at times, but I think it all adds to atmosphere and theme of the game. It's not like the main character acts like these things are "normal", things are deliberately weird and serve the story. I think the way things progressively gets worse works nicely towards the ending of the game.
It's been a long time since I played the game so I don't remember the combat that well, but by using savegames it shouldn't be that bad more of a nuisance.

I tried playing Harvester somewhere around year 2000 and just couldn't make myself finish it. I was a point-and-click fan back then already, I've always had a soft spot for FMV, and I didn't usually mind gore (like in Phantasmagoria, for example), but this game was way too disgusting; I also remember it desperately trying to be funny, that didn't help as well.

It is one of the great FMV games. I like how it is a satire yet it portrays the McCrathy era US town life so well. I like the puzzle design. But I think it could have tried to be a bit more forthcoming, especially with the violence. Up until some segments in the last act, it feels held back. It tried to go the route of Splatterhouse or the Toxic Avenger, just did not dare to do wholeheartedly up until the final act.

I do not usually make negative reviews... I've only made one and it was because the developers totally spent their product

I never played Harvester, but it looks like one of those interesting classics that I should get around to playing at some point. The general consensus from what I've read is that the first two thirds or so of the game is great.
As for ET Armies, didn't care for it.

In Humble Bundle you can buy Harvester for just over one euro. I have it in my library, I have played it, and from my point of view it is the most unpleasant game in the world.
I'm not saying it's a bad game, I say that from my point of view it's a bad game and quite disgusting.
I could not finish it because of a bug in the final matches. I did not cry for it, I did not look for a solution either; I just looked in Google to see the end: I will not spoil any.
If you are interested, and do not trust luck, you can buy it: the offer lasts about four days. If you do not think you're going to like it, and from my point of view is to throw a euro in the trash, try your luck with the draw.
Everything I have said is my personal opinion, I am not pontificating or fixing an absolute truth. It's my opinion, that of a random guy... aaand I would like to know your opinion, about this video game or about any other that you have disliked.
Any grammatical or syntactic error or linguistic barbarity, blame Google Translate.
There, a raffle and another thing called Harvester.
