They are working through support requests apparently. Now if they will give to everyone who sent prior or past his EDIT saying it was a limited time offer is unknown at this time.
Comment has been collapsed.
Relevant part being "STOP sending mails now please. This was only a limited offer"

The whole thing: "STOP sending mails now please. This was only a limited offer and we are working out something. "
Relevant as well: "and we are working out something"
Let alone it's relevant they never said it was a limited time offer in the first place, only around 8-9h later.

Many have said that they didn't get anything even tho they sent email almost right after the post. Not saying that they might get them later, but at least for now, nobody seems to have gotten anything.
Also it's odd that if they really are working on something related to this that they haven't actually announced anything, they rather take the negative feedback.

Guess they're bad at managing this. Maybe the guy posting can't do much more at this point and is up to other people inside. Or they could just be ignoring it as well.
With all the noise in the forums, insults, raging and stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if they just give up doing anything at all. But need to wait a bit and see, nothing will happen during a weekend (most likely not at least).
There's some hope, but the fact they didn't stick that guy reply yet telling people that they are working on it, making it so more people know and chill out, is strange and don't sound much promising.

Not being able to give it for free to everyone who owns the game is a straight up lie. I'm not saying this out of spite or anything, i already received the "remake" for free as you can see in my library. Look at The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, they just released something similar, except theirs turned all 3 previous game into one fluid experience, everyone who already owned all 3 other games, with DLC or not, received it for free. Not only that but they're looking into giving it for free to anyone who "completes their collection" after the fact as well. What Nordic is doing is straight up greed.

You dont give a ♥♥♥♥ about our answers at all anyways and you just want to believe it was intentional.
If we dont care why would we even do a loyalty program at all? Come on guys, put the rage back and think about it. Its not ideal right now but really we are not the ones to blame here. All these easy solutions and liar comments dont really help. After all this whole package set up is a bit more complicated than naive fallacy about adding apps to packages - here the system would need to cross check ownership and again we werent given the possibility to do that.
We are working on the support requests and have the best intentions to make this good."

They should have a look at what NeocoreGames did with the Van Helsing games and the new Final Cut version. It's not that hard to code a check if somebody owns all DLC...
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes. It was told a lot of times and once he said they didn't have the time to do it before, but he never said they would or wouldn't do it after they got flooded with e-mails. Which I think it's sad, the time they spent checking each email, each profile and sending out keys, they possibly could use the API and do that and make things easier.
Comment has been collapsed.
Actually it is. Steam doesn't hand out the info for owned DLCs.
That's also why we have to manually hide them on SteamGifts.

Yes, I am.
That linked API is part of the GameMaker-Engine, so your game can interact with Steam and its features (like achievements/cloud support etc.).
Comment has been collapsed.
Okay, didn't know that it's for the GameMaker-Engine. It's a shame that Valve doesn't let them make a simple AND check for automatically adding the Deathinitive Edition to accounts that bought all the content separately (and most likely spend more money). Thanks for the info.

I sent their support an email with proof showing I have the game + season pass+ all other dlcs
And they haven't responded.
Most likely they want me to pay that 6$ for a texture update. But it won't happen.
Screw them all!
It is just as bad as the sleeping dogs definitive edition and some other legendary edition or goty packs I won't mention here..
These publishers are just too greedy, they don't even respect the previous buyers who actually paid most of the money they made from the game...
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't defend them, but actually it was another publisher, who was selling an old game (THQ) and Nordics don't have to pay attention to their clients. But they've promised free copy to owners of Franchise Pack, and it's stupid when they didn't give anything to D1+D2+SP owners.

One of the recent best examples of how to handle this kind of situation is The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut. They promised to give it for free for the owners of Van Helsing I+II+III and they handled it perfectly through their site.
I don't know the legal procedure, but since Nordic acquired THQ and selling their games under their name, they should be responsible for the previous clients/customers as well.
Comment has been collapsed.
Regardless of who created the IP, Nordic is in charge now.
When you use statements such as "we chose to give our loyal fans", it's clear they're taking credit for the entire series and not just the Definitive Edition and therefore, should not be excused.

I see many thumbs down reviews of Nordic games popping up... I can't imagine what Nordic PR genius underestimated the fallout and shrapnel damage they would get by making their apartheid decision that only the owners of the full franchise edition are getting the update for free. There is absolutely no difference between their customers of the franchise edition and their customers (like me) that bought everything separately; nothing what so ever because both those customers bought everything of Darksiders. Also when others can reward Steam users that have the first edition of their game like the Van Helsing games and can ad an updated edition of their game to Steam why can't Nordic do this???
Comment has been collapsed.
Van Helsing Final Cut, Vanishing of Ethan Carter Redux, Adam's Venture Chronicles, Letter Quest Grimm Journey remastered all magically appeared in the Steam games of owners of the original Steam games so why can't or won't Nordic do the same. If the others can do this it can't be rocket science?
Comment has been collapsed.
In Nordic's weak defense, they didn't want to give free DLCs to people who didn't bought DLCs, so they couldn't just use base-game-ID, like examples here.
But then, why they didn't give it to people with Season Pass instead, which would be much more fair.
Comment has been collapsed.
I agree, they could fix a lot of the complaints by adding it to the Season pass APP ID as well because Steam recognizes that in peoples lists as a separate item in this case. (A lot of games, like Saints Row, don't show you bought he Season Pass, just it unlocks all the related DLC but doesn't register itself so that even the Steam Store/Enhanced Steam doesn't recognize that you own it.). However, there are still the people who did it via the installment plan, bought each item separately to worry about. For those people the email method could work as they are likely in the minority. Redemption page is still likely the best way.

They are handling this badly. Their only excuse would be the weekend, but their rep still posts in the forum but mostly only repeats himself (technical limitation, this was not intentional, etc). But doesn't provide any update on what's in the works or the 80% is the final solution.
From a marketing perspective, 1 week as a loyalty discount is bad. At the same time it creates urgency so this will make some people jump and buy it quick, but it will also undermine your sales given the short period and make people upset if they miss(ed).
EDIT: their support is responding to customers, but they are working on an easier solution than handling this manually via support

Apparently their support team is working on the e-mails people sent for a free key http://steamcommunity.com/app/388410/discussions/0/496880503074912542/#c496880503074928663. Not sure when that was posted since it's a quote from another thread. Now if they will give keys only to people who sent the request before he edited his first message asking people to stop sending or not, is to be seen.

Not giving the new edition to people who just own the base game, like me: ok. Not giving it to people who own all the DLC: not cool.
Comment has been collapsed.
You know what will happen in 4 days? The hysterical people who can't hold themselves will buy it before the discount is gone (and it will be on sale for Black Friday and Winter Sale for the same 80% off or close to to everyone on Steam).
BTW they seem to be sending out e-mails to people that sent them e-mails requesting the free key: http://steamcommunity.com/app/388410/discussions/0/496880503064621768/#c496880503077536243

We are trying to work out something better for free copies that are granted automatically with Steam. Unfortunately its not so easy to simply link it to the season pass because then people that bought the DLCs as single items wouldnt still be well off.
Meanwhile we also have our support team giving out keys to the Deathinitive Edition to folks that can show a proof of ownership of DS2 + Season Pass or the Story DLCs as single items."

I got my key from support after providing proof of purchase of DS2 + DLCs.
Glad they are working it out
Comment has been collapsed.
If you have DS2 + Season Pass and/or the contents of Season Pass, then you're eligible for DS2:DE I think. You just have to give them proof of ownership (like copy of invoice/receipt, serial number, copy of the email of purchase, screenshot of the licenses on your steam library, etc)

I contacted Nordic Support when I read the post here about sending them proof of purchase of Darksiders II and SP; and I just got a Steam key in my mail! ^ ^

Seems fair to me.. why should people who own the 2nd game have to purchase what is essentially an update version? I'm glad they did this.

Edit: STOP sending mails now please. This was only a limited offer and we are working out something.
Sooo there is no point in sending now?

Hard to say to be honest because there is so much mixed information about it. I did it nonetheless because the most recent post I found said they are also helping via email. They seem to be working on something to directly gift it to one's Steam account though. In case I should get a reply to my email I will post here again.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah.
I've sent the e-mail too.
They seem to be working on something to directly gift it
I hope they are but there is silence ATM.

Nordic Games is giving Deathinitive Edition for all, who owns Darksiders franchise pack, but if you bought D1+D2 separately, you just get 80% discount for the first week of sales.
Sounds good for the first sight, but it's like a dick move for buyers of separate games.
Details on their steam discussions
UPD.: Finally, they've added an autocheck and giving away for new version of DS2:
