No, the respectable thing to do, if you don't want to give away games to people within certain conditions, you simply set a CV / level limit, or make a private giveaway, link to it through the forums, and announce your custom rules there.
It's common courtesy to not insult random people for the lack of foresight in others. :P

You should give something, you dont have but it's well received in the comunity to at least make 1 giveaway, not just win. Even low price games count

I personally don't mind ratio so much(and that is a poor way of comparing it anyway) but for anyone who had enough to enter this site not bother donating even a single cheap game(99% sale is fine, giving free games is the other-and main- reason I add people to blacklist) after winning several is automatic blacklist for me.
Comment has been collapsed.
This site is based on users donating games for other users. This works better when more people donate, and it feels more fair. Just entering to win is fine, but if you win a large number of games and don't give anything then people will rightly label you.
That said, at some level this site does function as a gift trading site, where people gift games they don't want to other people who don't need to win them and won't play them.
In your case games seem to fall into two camps: those not played, and those not activated on your account. The second is against SG rules. The first is an indication that you're part of this useless gifting game.

People may blacklist whomever they like for any reason.

No Barbie, not unless she comes first and spreads fast.
Or maybe, spreads first and comes last?
I don't even care anymore.
Let the Barbie in.

Looks like you didn't activate Into The Dark or CastleminerZ when you won them. That could be the reason why you were blacklisted.

We check your giveaways won then your game library.

from FAQ:
Can I enter a giveaway for a friend?
You should only enter to win giveaways for yourself, and if you win a game, it must be activated and redeemed to the Steam account used during registration. If a friend is interesting in joining giveaways, they'll need to register for their own account.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not very surprising, he didn't even gave anything away in that time.
Comment has been collapsed.
Nothing in the rules dictate that every user NEEDS or REQUIRES to give away games. Nor is it against the rules to not read the rules, although both are suggested.
Activating wins on your steam account is required though, which is what you MAY have meant, though the actual comment chain points to giving away and not activating.
Comment has been collapsed.
Bundle games are still games, not everyone has the money to buy a non bundled game to giveaway for every giveaway they make. It's still better then not giving away anything at all.
Comment has been collapsed.
You don't need to but it is common courtesy to at least give something to the community in return for winning some games.
Comment has been collapsed.
Most people here don't have a lot of money to spend on games, I know I don't but I did find a way to contribute back to the Steamgifts community even though if it's not AAA titles only.

You have 2,320 entries and joined three years ago..
Comment has been collapsed.
Sure, but why enter a giveaway if you are not interested in the game at all? It's not like you've payed for the points you get.
Entering a giveaway you are not interested in playing is a bit useless. "Yay I've won a game, to bad I'm never gonna play it"
Comment has been collapsed.
I collect games. I have a lot of games I do not play. I do not feel bad for this. I like having them in my library, it makes me feel good, even if they feel lonely. That is the games fault, not mine. I do not feel guilty at all. Sometimes I download them, then delete them. Hopefully it makes them cry.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, it may be not very clear when you read the FAQ for the first time =) I was a fool, and regifted some of my wins right here, on SG. I thought "I don't like these games, so maybe some other guy will enjoy them". Of course, I was caught after a while, and had my time in a ban. After that I strictly comply with site's rules, they are here for a purpose ;)
Comment has been collapsed.
in your case I'd say GA creator looked at your profile, seen something that will get you suspended, reported you to support, blacklisted and requested reroll. If support confirms it and you were not banned for it before, you will be banned, your win will be canceled and given to another random winner and you will find yourself on much much more blacklists from now on :D: Have a nice day :)
Comment has been collapsed.
You will get a suspension x's the amount of infractions you have.
5 days for each non-activated game. Not a permanent ban.
And it may not even be 5 days for each, depends on the mod doing the math.
Comment has been collapsed.
it will, as for first time being caught you will probably get a timed suspension not permament. Idk how it works for multiple offences at te same time. Usually not activaed game = 5 days ban, so in this case it will be probably 20 days or more, but when you get back these blacklists will remain.
Also repeating offences may lead to permament ban.
Comment has been collapsed.
no. like I said before - Ignorantia legis non excusat. You broke the rules, it doesn't matter if you were aware of them or not. You broke them and got caught.
If a shoplifter is grabbed by a police officer while shoplifting and he says "but officer, I was not aware stealing is bad" does it makes him free to go? No. He's still breaking the law he is getting caught and he is getting punished.

At the time of my reply "If I get banned, that won't matter anyways" I thought the only option was to get permabanned, others said otherwise. Why would you waste time saying I'd get on a lot of blacklists and .. "You don't say.".
This is my thread, I am here to reply, you're here to waste your time.
Comment has been collapsed.
Trust me, everyone online is just wasting time.
Some just waste it more effectively, they have optimized their time wasting proficiencies.
They are at max level.
Next thread for the day. How do I level up?

There was a user I remember who maintained a public pastebin of all of the users they blacklisted and posted it every time they made a forum giveaway in sgv1.
Comment has been collapsed.
If you're referring to me, I wasn't posting it in every forum GA, just in most of them :D:
Also a lot of ppl was doing the same, most of active puzzlers or event makers had permission to use blacklist and one of the rules of using blacklist was to post it at least in GA description for it to have effect. I just posted it on puzzles forum topic as well, so ppl I have blacklisted wouldn't waste time on puzzles if they weren't allowed to enter GA anyway.

Do members make these Threads on purpose because they feel guilty and want to be caught for not following rules?
I like to think this is their way of making things right after doing things wrong for so long.
I also think it is time for me to go eat some lunch and drink some beer. Go team master plan race.

I am crazy as shit and I never feel guilty for anything I do, but I still must answer for wrong doings and pay for any consequences.

Well in that case I feel I should say that back when I first joined this site I sent gifts to people's e-mail precisely because I didn't want an answer and added on steam when I wanted one(or for keys). Seemed pretty obvious to me to the point I was completely surprised when I realized some of the people sending e-mails actually expected an answer. Now this could be me being exception and all but over time here I noticed plenty of people thinking the same for e-mail and especially the new key feature.
So there is the problem; a group expects a thanks, another doesn't care either way and the other finds it annoying. And from what I have seen the first and third group aren't really much different in size so unless it is noted in the giveaway(the latter occasionally does so but the former rarely) there isn't really a way to know if giving an answer to e-mail or trying another way of contact for key feature is being polite or being rude. It is why at this point I love when giveaway creators add me on steam that way I don't have to keep wondering or looking through their giveaways hoping for a hint either way.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hm, not really sure what to say. To me it is just common sense to say thank you to people who gift me things. I am always so happy myself when winning that I can't help myself but saying thanks. It never crossed my mind anybody could be offended by that.
Comment has been collapsed.
I think chrnno is right, if the giveaway description doesn't sa anything and creator put a key or link on /won. It's not opening a way of communication: creator has the e-mail of the winner. And winner shouldn't add creator because can be considered pressure before the key is provided. And if provided by SG, seems that doesn't want to communicate. When some users do tens of giveaways, seems less interested on start a conversation, so the tendency is accept that the creator didn't "open" a communication channel, because it's not interested on such communication.
Probably culture also altere that. I think most of the communications I had on trades and game wins and gifted are considered strange by 90% of my interlocutor. I've been said that in the past some times, and generally is based on culture differences and what is expected of the communicatiions for such purposes.
Comment has been collapsed.
I personally follow what troieve described. I consider it rude if the winner does not that me at any point during the process. Leave a comment in the giveaway. Contact me through Steam or leave a message on my profile. Send me a email. The method does not matter but the intention will. This is one of the primary factors why I do not do that many public giveaways anymore. From time to time, I return to drop something on public side hoping that this time it will go differently. Often it does not.

Ah, yes..I had on candidate, that said NOTHING..I added him on steam and told him he won something - no response.. I sent the gift - no response. After a while I saw my game was lying in his inventory...great feeling! A couple of days later I checked again and he has it now in his library, but I deleted him as friend before he added it and blacklisted him :-/

Just read what the creator posts once in a while, apart from mindlessly joining his group:
"New 73 key giveaway. Go register for your copy and check to see if you won one of the last ones. If you won a copy you have been added to blacklist temporarily and you won't be able to join further giveaways. Thank you more to come as people collect their keys."
I've also blacklisted you and reported for not activating the gifts you've won, enjoy!

I am not insulting you. I am stating a fact. You do not take time to read, even the easiest print to see.
Chill your font, everything will be okay. And yes, yes I do.

I've found the information you were looking for in 2 minutes not knowing what group you had to be in to enter the giveaway and I couldn't check that on SteamGifts. You were so lazy that you haven't even read the opening post of the group you've been invited to, only the free game was what mattered to you.
And there's no doubt IF you are at fault. You are, case closed.
Anyway, leaving this topic open will only evolve to even more of "beating a dead horse" kind of thread. I believe you've seen your wrongs already. My advice: close this topic, wait till your ban is over, read the rules and participate in a mannered way.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not saying I'm not at fault, clearly I am. After all aren't these free giveaways?
I don't puss out, I'm going to wait for a ban, I am not going to read the rules as I already did 30 minutes ago and I am indeed going to participate in a mannered way as I intended to since I joined the site.

from your perspective these are free GAs. From perspective of GA creator - he had to pay with his own money (eventually his time if he farmed them on tremor or something like that) for each and every GA he's made. If you were to spend your hard earned cash on game to give away to someone else you'd want it to go to the person who actually wants the game for himself not just to freely profit from something you paid for via trading or regifting.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, that is my perspective and that is the truth, they are free for me. A GA creator decides whether to GA a game or not, it's his choice. He can not do it and avoid me having a chance of getting it, he can make a private giveaway, he has so much choices. I'm taking what's given to me, if it's not obligatory to give back I won't if I don't want to.
Comment has been collapsed.
he decides to give the game away thinking that winner will follow the rules and activate it, not regift it and when found out spend next hours stating how he was entitled to it, how even if he broke the rules he feels everything is fine. You don't only broke the rules, you continuously show yourself as entitled ungrateful little brat.
Comment has been collapsed.
When we're fast & furiously typing, we tend to make a lot of spelling mistakes. Calm down, I can barely understand what you're saying.
I am not entitled, show me where I claimed to have priviledge and special treatment.
I am not ungrateful, I don't show appreciaton, but I certainly feel grateful to everyone making ga's.
And "little brat" is just an insult I believe I am not deserving.
Comment has been collapsed.
First of all you lie here: http://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/5iqVlDU just to change your mind when you find out we may actually see you are lying here: http://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/0LMtApU. That makes you a little brat, cause this is what little brats do - they lie straight to your face and when caught on it pretend they didn't.
You show your entitlement here: http://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/2dstvsU, also in multiple comments where you say how you don't feel guilty at all, because you just didn't bother to read the rules and follow them, which somehow makes it fine for you not to follow them.
And you are ungrateful, because you simply are. You don't care because these are just "free GAs" (http://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/0unGP5T) nothing more so what does it matter if you regift them to your friends or not.
Comment has been collapsed.
I suggest to you Sir, to buying those games that you have not activated in your account yet . You can use " Trade section " to find them too !.
Ban island is really boring !.There`s nothing to make you happy like funny gifs that you can find them much here in this awesome forum .
Plz, Say NO to Ban hammer coming to you !
Plz, See the dark future in ban island that will surround you .
Plz, notice there is no one to talk to you in ban island :( !.Just some spirits talking themselves

he didn't want point "goes to waste" and SG says "Only enter to win games you do not already own" not "only the ones you want"... =.=
Comment has been collapsed.
But YOU can't, and you certainly can't be said to collect games if you aren't even activating them yourself.
The important thing is that you are owning up to your mistake and willing to accept you are wrong, and not making up stupid excuses why your rule breaking isn't really breaking the rules. You'll probably get a temporary ban, but can't really say how long.
Comment has been collapsed.
Dont worry, maybe this help you understand why you've been blacklisted (same as every one of us who win on those GAs)
For the supporters on our greenlight campaign the key distribution will begin now and we will have giveaways until everyone receives their keys. It is going to be done through steamgifts. If you want your key just go enter the giveaway. Winners will be temporarily added to my steamgift blacklist so no one will be able to win more than once. These giveaways are DeadlyProfits4U group only giveaways, don't worry if you don't win I will be running these frequently and expanding the giveaway size when possible(i'm currently limited to 96 giveaways). The link can be found below for the first 50 key giveaway.

Was it the "Deadly Profits"?
I think that this was a vote and get a key group. So when a user get its key, he get blacklisted to avoid him to enter future giveaways of the same promo.
Comment has been collapsed.
I know what you mean though. Blacklists are a way to give your games to people who you think deserve them. Nothing to be ashamed of using.

It says you're suspended but also that you're online. Mind blown.
Comment has been collapsed.
suspended user may log into the site, but all he will be able to access and see is just Support section. This way you can appeal if you believe your suspension is unfair.
Comment has been collapsed.
I dont think he can view or reply to any of the threads.
That is correct. All that is seen is why you were last suspended and the history of suspensions.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, much like everything else with math and dates on a profile, you can hover over it and it will show the end date of suspension.

We need less users like Geneen. If everyone just entered giveaways and didnt give away anything, there would be no giveaways.

Maybe his attitude will change when he comes back in 2 weeks. Likely he made it on to several BL's due to this thread anyway.

his own fault. he could close the topic and minimize damage, especially as multiple ppl told him to close it, wait his ban and come back, but he kept bumping it himself telling how he doesn't feel guilty and how it's ok, he just didn't read the rules, because who would have read all of them. he got what he deserves ;p
