They sent the game via steam but I haven't redeemed it yet. I won't portal 2 but they sent gun monkeys instead. I've tried adding him on steam but he hasn't accepted yet

I did that once only it was a key I gave out in chat.

Was meant to be giving DMC: Devil May Cry and accidentally gave Devil May Cry 4. Actually realised just as they were activating and tried to get them to stop but I was too late.

Of course, I ended up giving them the right key as well, and the winner was cool, asking if I wanted something for the key I gave by mistake as he felt bad for me. I declined as it was my mistake and he insisted I take some virtual currency that was used in another group we were both in (he was group leader).

No, you made an honest mistake, and fixed it. The 'gifter' here mislabled a game they got free because it was removed from the list.

Maybe I'm too trusting, I was thinking that it could just be a mistake here too.

OP, I don't suppose you can see any of the games in the guy's inventory, and if he has a copy of portal 2 in there?

Ha, glad to see I wasn't the only one to do that too.
Was one of my first giveaways here. Accidentally copied/pasted the wrong key - Brink - instead of Bastion. Ended up giving him both games, sad to see that the winner never played either one.
Learned a lot about SG very early on but they were good lessons to learn earlier rather than later.

Unfortunately, that was probably intentional from the start.

It sucks, i know. My first time i won here i get a duplicate product code, game was dumb but still it sucked. Second time i won Medal of honor on galagiveaways and the guy never send me a code. You can't do anything about it just move along, afterall you didn't pay any money for it so you don't need to strees about it. My advice is to watch this forum because people all the time throw away keys and it's much bigger chance to get a game then enetring giveaways with 1000 of people.

only thing i do not get is why bother giving away the wrong key or fake key or used one?

they gain nothing for it other then wasting there time and yours if he does they must really hate themselves lol

The most important thing (while this might seem obvious, I'm stating it to make sure everyone knows) is to not mark the giveaway as received in that situation. If you do, you'll get in trouble for not redeeming the game you won. Wait seven days, make a good-faith effort to contact them and resolve it just in case it's an honest mistake, then mark it as not received and move on.

Gun monkeys instead of portal 2? What a prick.

Pretty sure you can get the giveaway changed to the correct game. Don't take that as pure fact, but I was told that in my own support ticket on the same issue.
