Some of these I play, some I don't. Any marked with an asterisk have incredibly replay value and I come back to them a lot.

In my opinion Spiral Knights is boring and repatative and Rise of immortals is just so bad. As visuals, gameplay, all. At least compared to all other moba games. Maybe it would be good if it was released like 6-7 years ago. Also as far as I know Shaiya is repatative and boring too. So I dont trust your opinion.

Rise of Immortals is basically League of Legends, except the camera is zoomed in uncomfortably close and the creeps are -still- too tiny to target effectively.
And... I dunno, the Immortals feel somewhat tougher as a whole, some LoL Champions are awfully fragile.

the had a free week sometime ago and all the unlocked content was great thuogh nothing special. I was too busy to bother deelting it so it stayed on my system and I just open it once in a while to play... Don't know how LoL is but I never could grasp HoN so this does for now.

lol it was full of lag on the great gift pile, it has always worked before and the team is speeding up releasing new immortals about 1 a month now. still not too many people playing about 300 on 5v5 during the day but ive seen way worse numbers on mmo games. there have been LOL players migrating over. I just dont like LOL at all. Theres something that feels right with ROI.

TF2 isn't bad, neither is GA as shooters go.
The past week I've been playing Star Trek Online, and it is substantially better than expected, but I can see why it had a failed launch.
League of Legends is a good MOBA, but certainly has its flaws.

STO - very complicated as MMOs go, action is lighter, ship combat takes some getting used to. Insane depth. League has a very unstable metagame because of the constant new champions, and they're re-working champions that are fine rather than ones that are always banned because they are broken. Community is terrible or non existant. That said - gameplay itself is very solid, and if you don't mind taking the time to learn it can be a lot of fun. Easiest and most casual friendly MOBA by far.

If you stick to Co-op Vs. AI matches, it can be an extremely fun game with no actual pressure. I play ranked every now and then, but I definitely prefer being able to play in a match where you can do pretty much anything (within reason) and people won't care.
As for STO, I definitely agree that it's very complicated for an MMO. I tried the game and did genuinely enjoy it, especially creating my own race, but I stopped playing it due to minor things such as poor directions for quests (ex: quest tells you "Speak to 'X'" but doesn't tell you where 'X' is) and a fair amount of grinding repetitive quests in order to level (at least in my experience). Overall a good MMO once you get the hang of it though.

you're right, I don't play angband any more in its classical format. on the contrary nethack (which i first compiled and played many years ago on some sparc station) is up to date; in its ios version it offers vintage ascii graphics with touch control and i've got it here in my ipod for when i'm in the right mood.

Tribes: Ascend is the most promising I've found
Played Forsaken World for a bit just couldn't get into it - tried Rift which isn't free but it was a free trial same shit just better eye candy
there was another one that was free that I tried a while back can't remember the name but they ALL seem to be the same crappy idea - choose a character start with nothing do scripted tasks disguised as quests and BUY stuff to make your character actually worth a shit and have a chance to advance - I don't get it

A lot of F2P games are definitely designed to be Pay to Win. If you really want to find a true F2P game then you want to play one from either Turbine or Cryptic. Turbine games can be 100% free to play (but it can take a bit of grinding to earn enough currency to buy the big things in the item store). Cryptic games do tend to be a little more limited in the free section, but at least you don't HAVE to pay in order to succeed.

1.) Team Fortress 2 - just a classic.
2.) Tribes: Ascend (closed Beta keys can easyly be obtained) - very very fast Shooter. Similar to TF2 you'll die very often in your first matches, but then its lots of fun.
3.) Alien Swarm - I've played it a lot when it was released. The campaign is short but worth it.
4.) 10 minute space game (Desura) - sort of a "casual explore/expand/exploit/exterminate space strategy". The AI is dull, yet I like to play it now and then.
5.) Deity (Desura) - it's a short game developed by students. Zero replayability, but the campaign is worth it.
