i've been entering giveaways for alan wake since i first heard of it. i regularly donate to eff through humble bundle so i'm happy to see alan wake show up there!

The game sold very well , both at release and on Steam special offers, topping Summer Sale and Holiday Sale sales. I don't think there was anybody left who didn't have the game and would have paid over, say, 10 euros for it. therefore this was the perfect time to generate some awareness and further milk the cash cow.

Sure. Getting a little bit from a large group of people who otherwise wouldn't have purchased it is still far, far better than the alternative. Besides, it gives Remedy some extra exposure for their upcoming game.

In a way, yes, that's true. But don't forget that the original game sold enough copies on PC in the first 48 hours to compensate for the porting expenses, so after that they were making profit. I doubt that they suffered too much loss, maybe this is how they make some more cash for the "Ultimate Remedy Experience". Who knows.

Wait. I bought the game and activated Alwan Wake: Collector's Edition. But I only received regular Alan Wake?

steam doesnt list it as "collector's edition" in your library. you still have it.

to double check in case youre paranoid, just go to http://store.steampowered.com/app/108726/ and it'll say if you own it or not

If they break any rule, just report them and let support handle the rest.

But don't use the 'Report user'-button unless you use SG+, since it doesn't work. You need to write a support ticket even if it's stated otherwise there. As support wrote in another thread.
