Yes, you are right. Maybe they can be used later? After all, this particular version won't be release any more, no more keys will be generated, so, in a sense, it will be a "removed" game. And while it was bundled, Steam gifts of these could increase in value over time. (Well, long time.)

If you want to see it also in your library when it is not installed and if you want to have also steam cards from the game, you have to get the game from square. They will send you a key and after you activate it, you will also have the drop of cards and you will see it in library. If you cannot activate the key because you already installed it throught steam, then remove it from steam account and use the key then.

I have that problem with Q.U.B.E. and Deponia. It's risky to hang onto gifts.
