Ok so im not going to make the normal whining thread where I complain about something, nor am I going to call them out because I think this is against the rules.

All I would like to know is if you think I should do anything extra??:

  • I have reported them as a scammer on steam rep
  • I have reported them to steam but I doubt this will do anything as they say any trading done outside of the trade window is your responsibility, which is fair enough.
  • I've left negative rep on their steam trades profile

Thank you for your help and I do like the humour this website has :D

Very sorry to hear this..
My advice, No keys even if one chooses to go first hence "well i want my game, the code worked" so only do Keys w/ people you know very well/traded with often..

Try and have a small circle of friends on here, helps when trading as well as "fair" trades, it works great when everyone in that circle is on the same page and helpful..

Always check into more than "rep" check profile, track and search all in regards to this "id theft" a scammers tool of choice it seems..

Keys are usually the big one but also keep in mind that pre-orders can be cancelled via the owners credit card etc, it will get rectified but its the long drawn out process which can be gruelling and speaking of process DOCUMENT and SCREENSAVE everything ! "oh your a priest you say, snap, screenshot" I dont care if you did business 1,000 times w/ someone, it could be the 1,001 when good guy tutns bad..

Also users may have good rep under a familiar name, one we all may know of yada yada but if you dont and they realize this, well there are those who will use an alias / account to do dirty deeds and just revert back..

Everything is usually best when its giftable and through the window, if not then hey wait until something you want can be traded in this manner.. Patience is def a virtue here X 2..

Even in window read everything before hitting that green bar, everything.. look at the game, restrictions etc..

Bottom _____ Window trade using giftables is the method of choice, the safest method.

Follow these steps and it will be a safer journey.

But since ths does no good now, any proof you have would help your cause, tickets can take time but its the only way that is 24/7.. Detective work also doesnt hurt in case you lack "sufficiant" proof/info BUT what you are doing right now is the right step to take, reach out.. steam community has an uncanny way of supporting and collecting clues etc.

Thank you for the advice :) and the reason I went first is that they had more rep than me

Steam support Create an account, choose steam and create a ticket with every info you have. His name, what was the trade and many screens like the item given.

You can probably get away with asking steam support to reverse the trade "instead of issuing a chargeback on the game"

This might or might not be a good idea. Don't mention chargeback on your first try.
