If you mean booster pack as card drop yeah i get once a week. I think it's related to level.

It is.

How can I get a booster pack?
Once you have received all of your card drops, you become eligible for a booster pack, which is a set of 3 trading cards that may include both basic and foil cards. Booster packs are granted randomly to eligible users as more badges are crafted by members of the community. Make sure you log in to Steam each week to maintain eligibility.

Once eligible, your Steam Level increases your rate of receiving a booster pack drop:
Level 10: +20% increase in your drop rate
Level 20: +40% increase in your drop rate
Level 30: +60% increase in your drop rate
Level 40: +80% increase in your drop rate
Level 50: +100% increase in your drop rate (i.e. the rate has doubled)
Etc.

In practice, high levels don't really mean much though. Having 20/100000 chance instead of 10/100000 may look good on paper (OMG, double chance), but in reality number of eligible games outclass level bonus so much, it is as if your Steam level doesn't even matter. My level 30 alt gets almost thrice as many boosters as my level 100+ main.

Yep, personally I noticed that having alts in ASF is much more "efficient" in terms of getting booster packs than any real cash put into steam level - even levels 200 or 300.

Maybe if percentage was dynamic based on currently eligible users it would make sense, but if somebody is leveling up purely for booster packs then he's doing it COMPLETELY wrong.

Yes, you are throwing in as many tickets into the booster raffle as a single high-level account, only with a fraction of investment. And I am relatively sure that there are a few bot groups dedicated to farm massive amounts of boosters from the freebie games, cashing in on the cheap badge crafting, especially around these season sales.

It's related to level. You get 1 chance per 10 levels acquired.

edit: Boy. Outgunned and outclassed on the reply.
Guess I'm done here.

I get one per 4 months. You should have a drop rate of 1.6x that of mine, rather than about 16x-
I wonder if I'm that unlucky, or you that lucky :P

I have been level ~50 for some time but i got regularly in 2-3 months. Of course there is empty weeks but still i think i am a little lucky. :D Maybe as SatouLilly said I usually don't have card drops that helps too.

How many eligible games?
I get a drop every 3.9 days, considering your amount of games the 4 months sound a bit odd.

If I cut out the early months where my library was smaller, it goes up to about 1 in 2.8months.
I'm also not counting the one booster pack I've gotten like clockwork each summer and winter sale (which'd further bring it up to 1.75 months).

even if I'm failing to recollect something, it still wouldn't be near in the 'per couple of weeks' range, much less 'per handful of days'.

I had 4 drops. First two years ago, the rest in two weeks. I only know that steam level give you higher chance to get it.

My alt got a drop yesterday, so it seems crafting is going on nicely. Normally I get around one every six weeks or so on my main, but I have not too much games eligible (somewhere around 300).
Booster crafting can be economic, if you know what games to pick.

you could download the idlemaster and that gets you all your card drops?

Idlemaster is discontinued. ASF is the better choice.

Discontinued and non-functional are separate concepts.

Some people prefer Idle Master.

idlemaster also has less functionality and works worse. for instance, i had to login again every day with idlemaster (after the 24h disconnect). no problem there with ASF. also, ASF uses a seperate session, so it stops idling when you start playing a game. just a few examples why i think ASF is way better. even if it doesn't look as good. ;)

Curious why you'd want it to stop when playing a game?

I thought idling 1 and playing 1 still contributed towards getting cards on the idled game, just at a slower rate. If that's wrong then fair enough, but if it's not then I'd definitely prefer to have it running 24/7, even when I am playing other games.

I have same thought with you.
If ASF have this function, I'll be back to ASF.

I'm aware of the advantages.

I've just noticed that every time someone mentions Idle Master someone else has to mention ASF.

The thing is in your initial reply, you floated the fact that Idle Master was discontinued as a basis for not preferring it, but being discontinued or not recently updated alone doesn't mean much of anything to many users.

I love the search program Everything for Windows. Ignoring betas, it has had two updates since 2008--in 2009 and again in 2014. I used it for years and was aware that it never asked to update and that when I installed it to a new computer/install, it was the same version. I didn't know whether it was under continuous development. I didn't care because it still worked.

Idle Master still works. At present IM's lack of development vs. ASF's continued development isn't that important to most IM users, I don't think. Not until it stops working.

Ive rarely have problems with it, its only stuff like having to restart steam or only idle one game at a time instead of multiple. Nothing bad, i dont know what ASF is but idle master has never let me down

ASF is the superior program but for most users that superiority is marginal when you are only managing an account or two. It's when you become an alt master that IM becomes terribly unwieldy and deficient and ASF becomes the only logical choice.

I've been keeping track of my booster pack drops over the last few months (since december) and I seem to get them every two-four weeks or so, and I always open them because I think that's fun :D

I'll see how it changes (if at all) once I start crafting my badges and I go up a bunch of levels.

Booster drops are fine. Level matters, but it's far more effective to have eligible alts than it is to try to get a high level on a main. High level has other benefits, but on a purely economic basis creating alts and assuming the associated costs with unlimiting them make up for themselves quite quickly when you redeem free games with cards to them, they become booster eligible, and you ensure that you do whatever it is you have to do at the next big Steam sale to acquire free holiday cards for each account you administrate.

Well about the booster drops... (I actually planned to make a thread about it soon)

Steam is telling us that we get a chance for a booster every time someone crafts a badge and so on.
That's not true. I'm keeping track of all my booster drops 2016 with the date when I received them.
My level (52) didn't change since them, but the amount of games that drop boosters surely did.
However, I receive one booster every 7 days. Exactly 7 days.
So booster drops aren't actually random. Or I am very very lucky to get a booster exactly 7 days after the previous one...

Level 27, one booster drop at level 11. Nearly 40 games to get boosters from, some are rare-ish though.
