How long was your longest break from gaming/Steam?
He probably misunderstood. What he probably means to say is he started gaming at 12 and Steam at 23.

had longer breaks were I just didn't felt like/ had no time, but that was before SG
still not always playing, but now steam and sg are always open

I always play something, I need it as a break from usual productivity I'm doing, even if it's just one hour daily.
Longest break would be probably one specific week when I didn't feel like playing anything, instead I was lying in bed watching movies while feeling horrible.
Gaming is fun, and it can bring lots of happiness, assuming you do not overuse it by no-lifing 10 hours daily.

+1 It's a good way to just relax after (or during) a day working.

Yeah, if you do it too much it becomes boring. I played games for 6 or so hours daily in the past summer break, but after a few weeks I just didn't feel like it anymore (but that's with everything really).

After making my Steam account (late 2012) I stopped playing video games about a year later, maybe early 2014. It was partly because I lost interest and partly because I stupidly thought people would make fun of me for playing games. I didn't start playing again until about December 2015, so I took about a two year long break.

While I really enjoy gaming I also greatly enjoy reading so all it takes for me not to play any games for a while is to get into a long series or multiple ones, fanfics when the fandom is full of quality ones happens too. In fact I probably enjoy reading more than gaming since I lost track of the times I pulled off an all-nighter reading but gaming rarely happens.
Ever since I joined SG don't think I went more than a month without accessing it but beforehand since I pretty much never bother with gaming sites going weeks/months was pretty common and over a year happened a few times.

Never took a break just for the sake of taking a gaming break, so I wouldn't know. There have been some periods where I didn't play for a while, I just have no idea how long they lasted.

A couple of days at the most. So far I've not grown tired of gaming yet. I have had times where I didn't feel like it, but then I go read a book or play a bit on my guitars and it's all fine again. Gaming is a pretty good way to just relax and forget about real life stuff (not that there is much I want to forget).
However in the coming months I might not have a lot of time, so I might take a break at some point. Although I will try to avoid that if possible.

Longest break was a somewhere around a year or over, my usual breaks seem to range anywhere from couple weeks to couple months. Usually all these breaks happen "accidentally" without me even noticing how long it has been.

Well, I signed up for Steam in 2011 but didn't start using it until 2016.
I did play a few video games on my PC during that period, but I never bothered with Steam.
But I've never taken a break from gaming in general.
GBC in 2000, PS2 in 2005, NDS in 2006, NDSi in 2009 and 3NDS XL in 2013 until today.
I don't know, it's just been something that has been with me for the majority of my life and I just love gaming.
But I can imagine taking a break from PC gaming when I'm just too tired in the evening and have nothing left to play.

let's see. I'm pretty sure I bought the Orange Box, then went dormant (on steam) for a year or two. Then bought another game on steam, and went dormant for another 3 years (on steam).
As for gaming, I have had periods where I didn't game that much, because life. And I probably went about 2-3 years of not gaming at all.

I often take breaks during a week or two, because of friends, work, books, whatever. As long as I have something interesting to do instead I don't really care. My longest break was probably for a few months in the early 2000s, I didn't feel like playing at that time although I didn't really know why.

I was forcefully made to take a break when I had to finish my project report for uni last year. Not really much time for anything else when I'm going on a work-for-however-long-I-last-sleep-for-two-hours-repeat schedule for a week. Probably gonna happen again this year because I'm awful at organizing myself. <.<

I wondered if you've ever take a break from gaming? If so, was it easy task for you? How likely you will for that couple months break, total abstinence, with no Steam, games, SG and other related gaming websites?
