Streets of Rage Remake V5 is something I'll demand you try. Freeware PC game and ****ing awesome.

You can also get all three Streets of Rage games and some other stuff like Golden Axe in the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive collection.

It isn't out yet, and it isn't on steam, but I suggest going to the Tiny Barbarian kickstarter page. DBX's mention of Golden Axe brought it to mind.

While I haven't played any SoR on the PC collection yet (I bought for a handful of games not in various other collections), what games I have played work well. Sega have a habit of employing people who make freeware emulators to do their ones, so they work great.

Except on the DS. That one was just sad.

Be sure to get one of the 10 game packs. Don't buy a single game. Perhaps wait for a sale on all 5 packs instead, I got 50 games for under $10. Only missing the Sonic games which are sold separately.

Look into Comix Zone, it was released on the Genesis/Mega-Drive and it's on Steam, also not a beat-em' up, but Gunstar Heroes is pretty fun, also released on the Genesis/ Mega-Drive
Also Castle Crashers and maybe Kung Fu Strike, iunno I have the game but haven't played it.

Can't believe I didn't make a personal mention of Comix Zone in my above post. I used to play it all the time on my Mega Drive.

Anyone who needs save states with this game, or even Continues, is a wimp. Practice for years like me until the game is easy.
