A year has come and gone...

EDIT: AND BAD RATS IS HERE TO STAY!!! CLICK ME CLICK ME!!!!

It's been an interesting year. Many things have come to pass. I found this site while I was taking care of my dad who was recovering from temporary paralysis. My grandfather passed away. I made some puzzles. I joined some groups. I made a lot of friends. Became an anti-leech. Threw a couple events.

Overall, SG helped me get through some rough times. However, the time has come to say good-bye for now. I may participate in one more event, depending on how things play out, but a break is necessary. Something I've been wanting to do for the past two years is finally coming to fruition. For the past two years, it's been blocked for one reason or another. The onset of my dad's condition, my grandfather situation, a friend who was traumatized and needed constant care for 3 months. But... Finally, not only is everyone okay and I feel like I can leave them with a clear conscience.

It's time to start a new journey. I'm heading off to South Korea at the end of the month to go teach English. My job offer came so quickly I was surprised! Now I'm in Chicken with it's head cut off mode trying to take care of everything. The funniest part is I've been planning on doing this forever, but now that it's happening, I'm mildly freaking out. But excited at the same time.

I spent a year in Berlin that totally changed my life. Now I'm off for another adventure. I'm not leaving for good, but I don't know how much internet access I'll have at first, plus I'll be waiting for a paycheck for the first time, and setting up a foreign bank and... well you get the idea. There's a lot going on. Further, I won't have a second monitor which will drive me crazy till I get one. I'm sure I'll be busy exploring the city like crazy when I first get there... so... Yes. A break is in order.

If you've got me on Steam, you will likely be able to find me there and leave a message as I'll probably have it on all the time as usual.

But anyways, so many people have touched my life here and made it better. However, I still remember to this day the thread that pulled me into the forums. So, a big thank you goes out to eeev for making her selfie cake day thread.

That was probably also a bad thing, because of that I discovered bundles
I joined SG with somewhere between 88 and 250 games... >_<

So to all of you from the Selfie-Thread to the Puzzlers, from the Berlin Train Riders, to the various Secret Santa events, from the Birthday groups to my very special Ratio groups, I wish you all a wonderful month or so till I find my way back.

No Poll for you - I don't care what cake you like... and even if it doesn't qualify, my favorite is Cheesecake - All Kinds of Cheesecake

OMG I forgot the train! XD BOARD HERE!

REALLY late to the party, as usual. Congrats and best wishes for your trip to Korea (added perks = cheaper prices for you on some games). And of course, a very happy Cake Day!

Happy belated cake day! (I mean to comment earlier but I kept forgetting :p). Good luck on your new adventure! I feel like you should try to get into North Korea and hang out with Kim, but that's probably much funnier in my head than it would be in reality :p

Thanks for the train.
And congratulations on your new journey. New adventure awaits.
Are you going to Seoul or some other city?
It's probably a good idea to learn a hangŭl and some basic Korean phrases before you travel.
Well, it would be interesting to work in Korea, if you ever hear about some IT related job opportunities in Korea you can let me know.

Thanks!

I will make special category in my steamo libraro called Keo-sensei gifts to memorise this moment. ;-)
But it's not like you're moving to another world, it's just ... other side of ours (from my perspective at least).
Be sure to drop by from time to time when you get all comfy in there :-)

Just wanted to hop aboard the train, but, apparently, I'm blacklisted? Why?

I'm reluctant to say, because these things are subjective. But in the nicest way possible, I found your netiquette on the forums to be lacking. :/

Well, this is obviously left to your discretion. But I hope that at least it was not some kind of misunderstanding, I'd rather have my consequences for something that I've actually done.

Speaking of, I think it would be mighty fine of you if you could point me to some examples of my transgressions.

I'm preparing to move to another country for a new start. So I'm not gonna go looking for them. I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the Brexit threads. And you know, perhaps I'm an idiot for feeling the way I did about it, but I wasn't really stoked at the time. However, I will give you this one thing right here.

There was a thread about me recently being an asshole for blacklisting them XD That was quite funny, but your approach was very different. So in the spirit of new beginnings, etc... and because perhaps I may have been harsh in my earlier judgement, I'll remove you :)

Thanks for asking and thanks for not jumping down my throat about it.

I wish you lots of exciting adventures at your new temporary home Keohookalani.

I loved the Berlin train and especially all your personal stories that went along with it. Here's hoping there will be a South Korea train some time in the future, I would love to participate in it with some games.

Congratulations, I'm really happy for you. As I recall this was something you really wanted to do. And if I've understood it right it isn't quite as easy getting a job like that as it used to be.
Here's hoping you come back with as many interesting stories as you got from Germany. ^^

Well, I heard this story a bit earlier already. So I know you really want to do this and you are eager to take a new step. Changing the country for a limited time was a thought I had sometimes but was never brave enough to do. So congratulations for your bravery and good luck with your new job in South Korea. Have fun.

I know I've told you this before, but you are a great teacher. You've taught me some things that weren't exactly in my wheelhouse, and you were so patient and friendly about it. I love ya, Keo, and I'm confident that we haven't seen the last of you. Very best of luck to you, my good friend.
