Lucky you aren't on my team. I'm relying on those fools to nab me some free stuff.

I'm not spending a cent on it, and in fact made money on selling the cards. How am I an idiot?

Well you can get the cards from buying games so it kind of does.

...This is coming from a level 32 with thousands of trades, transactions and virtual items for various games...?

Somebody woke up grumpy today :) I only spend money I get selling cards for getting cards anyway, so I rather sell my sale cards and craft lovely game badges and get sale cards that I sell to get lovely game cards to craft game badges and get get sale cards...

I've myself would probably participate at least once a day if those bonuses didn't suck, smileys and backgrounds suck ass compared to fall/winter sale. Second, the bonus in-game last winter fucking sucks, if you can select what specific game you would want to get drops for those bonus in-game items, then crafting would be much more attractive join.
My hand didn't even tried to flinch for a second to grab my wallet to buy something this sale. Pathetic game deals

I think it is incredibly clever of valve. Respect!

This is a given every year. Generally they will have 3 major sales during the year. A lot of people look forward to the interaction and you can grab some AAA titles for next to nothing. I agree that the teams is rather lame for this year but there's more to it than that. Stop having a tinkle in people's cornflakes. Either you participate or you do not. End of story.

Yeah, I also think that this is nothing more than a marketing campaign, but Valve is extremely good at it. Here's an article that explains how brilliant they are.
They can sell products by giving people the will to buy something that is basically useless or cosmetic, without any real purpose (well except for video games, these products are awesome)
I don't hate them for doing this because I don't feel wronged (I'm not sure if this is the right word).
When they first added trading cards to steam, I was upset because I thought I had to pay to level up and get a better looking profile or badges for games I like.
But then I realized I could simply trade useless cards or scrap metal and don't pay at all
The same thing is happening during this sale : I wish I could craft tons of badges and get rewards but I won't waste my money in doing that, It's not worth it.
So instead I just keep trading, voting and taking advantages of prices differences on the steam market, maybe I'll pay a few cents but that's it.
TL:DR Cards and the Summer adventure are pointless, but you don't have to waste all your money to enjoy it.

Pff, I don't care about the whole thing, I'm just playing along. Joined a team, and didn't contribute at all. I'm just having some fun. :P
Oh, almost forgot...

I don't know why almost all of you fell for this. Just cheap easy marketing trick to having money from established userbase, your threads like ... RED GO !, BLUE FTW! are really pointless. Getting a 3 items wishlist and being successful among so many people is worse chance than being hit by a lightning strike(smashsmash said that). So stop giving money to Valve for just being hyped and buy games instead, not some cards or shitty stuff.
