So I got all pumped when I saw the new Indie Gala bundle, The Raving Aces Bundle, and the only reason I cared was because I saw that Guilty Gear X2 #Reload was part of it. Well apparently I'm a freaking moron and didn't realize that I ALREADY OWN IT! I had it in my head that on Steam I owned GG Isuka and GG X2: The Midnight Carnival, the first version of GGX2 which had a retail release in Japan but never the US. Plus at one point in time I've owned all the versions on the different Playstations over the years and it's all a jumbled mess in my brain.

That's my excuse anyway. And the sad thing is losing 4 bucks is actually a big deal when you are as broke as I am.

So anyway, has anyone else here ever make a stupid mistake and bought a bundle or made a trade to get a game and then realized you already freaking owned it?
If not just say yes and make something up so I feel better.

Oh and um, here I guess.... Get this away from me LVL 4+

Yeah, but only with smaller bundled games, never with anything big.

I find that https://isthereanydeal.com/ is helpful for that, since (provided you sync your Steam account with them) their bundle listings will cross off anything you already own.

I bought a DLC for Crusader Kings 2 twice, months apart. Felt really stupid so I gave it away here. :-)

usually only the freebies that I have hidden. But I once went out of my way to trade for a game and when I tried to activate the gift I leraned it was already in my inventory and it turned out to suck, but that's a different story

I bought the new Humble 2K bundle yesterday just for The Darkness II. When I tried to activate it, I got the message telling me I already owned it. It was only the $1 tier, so no big deal, but I will definitely remember to check in the future.

Then I got a message from someone saying that I provided a used key. Turns out that I already gave the key away 4 months ago and forgot to delete it. I put up a few trade offers to get a new key and the first person to respond wanted The Darkness II, so I guess buying it helped me out a little.

Yeah.
I saw this on a sale, really cheap and I bought it.
When I tried to activate it I found out that I already own it.
It ended as my first GA here.

I've done it a lot. I've done it because usually it's something that I had bought like 2 years ago in a bundle and I didn't realize I owned it. I used to buy a LOT of bundles JUST to get my games number up. I had to stop doing that since I went broke for a year, but now I only get games I want lol. But yeah, it has happened a lot. Just a few weeks ago I won a game on SG and ended up already owning it so he had to reroll it. It's because that same week, a friend of mine gave me a key to that game and I just forgot to un-enter the giveaway. Stupid mistake on my part :p

Tons of times, but that come naturally with owning 1000+ games.

Unfortunately that happened to me a couple of times.. Which is a good indicator on owning too many games :/

It hasn't happened to me, though sometimes I happen to find a game on sale and I need to remember whether I own it or if it's still sitting in my wishlist. It has happened to my cousin with the Realms of Arkania bundle. When he noticed he gave me the extra keys.

I have quite a good memory, I remember every single one of my 600+ games. Yes, even crappy free games!
I also remember where I own my games, in what form, and where I obtained them.
