To support them, to play in the early access era, contribute with ideas to the development of the game. This is why you could pay.
On the other hand, I'm just as unintrested in that as probably you are :) For some hardcore zombie/survival-fan players it can be a good deal (if it's playeable for like 3 months in early access, then they buy 3 months of early playing for 20 bucks, it's not that bad)

Yeah you're right If it was an indie developer i would totally support it but it's SOE it payed em enough in Planet side 2

Why? Well if you like zombie survival games and you don't want to wait like a year to play the F2P release.

definitely want to check out the game.. but I don't want to pay $20 for a free to play game just to do so.

would be nice if they at least gave the people buying early access that $20 back in station cash on the official launch. but they wont.. if anything it will be like 100 station cash and some XP and In game currency boosts.

I would pay to support the devs if I had more money, same for charity. Money is way too tight, but I'm hoping some people do though, because the game looks like it has a lot of potential. Actually never mind, isn't Sony the developer? They don't really need our money.

Yeah man SOE is devolving it ...if it was some indie studio then i would have bought it, but SOE earned a lot from me in Planet side 2 :p

What seriously confuses me about H1Z1 is that it's being made by Sony Online Entertainment and yet will still be released on PC o_O

SOE have some big titles on PC, what's so confusing ? They will probably bring it to PS4 after some time like they did with Planetside 2, but that will be after the full release. I doubt we will see anything for Playstation before that.

I'm just confused that their online division makes games for PC before Playstation, whereas every other division doesn't even consider the PC.

They are smart and actually realize that the F2P market on the PC is huge, and is very profitable. Also they get to do stuff like this on the PC ( release an unfinished game that is going to be F2P when release and ask you for money to Alpha/Beta test it ).

When portal 2 came out, steam started having a button for for PSN players. I wouldn't be too surprised more and more games will feature cross platform multiplayer between STEAM and PSN.

SOE has been doing online titles for PC since the 90s... there is nothing confusing about it.

So because they've been making PC games for a long period, it's suddenly not confusing? They are the ONLY division of Sony to even consider the PC or in some cases consider the PC before the Playstation lol.

That's confusing.
