No money = Pirate for life. And I'm proud to not support companies like EA or Activision.

If you pirate the games of EA and Activision, then you clearly want to play them / enjoy them. Isn't that a reason for supporting the company?

Liking games =/= supporting the company. Also, I don't have any of the recent Activision games and have only bought the C&C Collection for cheap at latest for EA games.

I didn't mean that liking a game is a form of support. What I meant was that if you like a game from that company, you should buy it to support them. If you're just hating on EA / Activision because others are, while still playing their games, that's just silly.

I hate Activision for reasons like the CoD kids online and a few more, but I can clearly say I hate EA with a vengeance because they killed off a lot of the great series like Dungeon Keeper, naming one of the best games they could have let live.

I'm actually in the process of cutting down on using paid software, which has been acquired using means other than paying for it. By next year I'd say I will be fully clean, as there are plenty of alternatives that are as good as the paid pieces of software.

I used to pirate a lot, but ever since I started earning a bit more money I found myself rather paying for the games to support the developers, especially if I enjoy the game.

I don't have anything pirated on my PC, only original software, Windows 7 Retail included (but English version, as it was considerably cheaper on Amazon). Not sure about a license of a SAPI5 voice though, I should buy a new one or so. Also, I use a lot of free and opensource software.

Ofc I do. However it used to bud much worse till I started working. Now I love shopping for games and sometimes can't even stop :D I'm also trying to force this onto my friend, but to no avail. The single most important reason for this is that I absolutely need to try the game before I buy it in most cases. And no demos don't count, ignoring the fact that they are very rare nowdays, I need to see the game how it is and not only parts or with a limited time. I think I used a pirate copy to get rid of a DRM few times too, mostly Assasin's Creed. I don't feel that bad about this at all, it's even not illegal in my country (if I don't share it further) afterall :)

Amazon sells MP3 albums (requires Amazon downloader) and single MP3s (also direct download available).

There's also this Wikipedia list

I only pirated a keygen to unlock all my Steam games, everything else is paid for or OpenSource.

I even got a legit full copy of WinRAR :3 (but I doubt I can upgrade it for free)

Indeed, but it seems I got my version from a "more recent" promotion, because KeePass tells me, my key is from February 2010 and for WinRAR 3.80

it was probably this promotion

Don't have any pirated games on my PC or Mac, haven't been for years. Same for music and software / applications (I even bought windows 8 to get rid of the last piece of pirated software I had been using for years: OS). BUT if you define software as "Anything that can be stored electronically" I have to admit that I enjoy watching old scifi series that aren't available on Netflix :/

I pirate games occasionally to see if my PC can run them / how well they run, and if it can, I buy them.

But yes, I probably have something pirated, somewhere.

Well... Most of the things I've got are pirate, but that isn't bad. Pirating it's an alternative for people unable to buy their own stuff. In my country there is no import, so I can't buy ANY kind of games on stores (just ps3 and xbox 360, and highly overpriced, and just the mainstream like CoD, God of War, Halo, Assassin's Creed...) also no music, just "modern & juvenile music", no Metal for me okay. And we are attached to an organ which controls the USD in Credit Cards, just 400$ per year. Spending those 400$ in games will be pretty easy considering every new game and some other really worthy cost around 40$ o more. So I can only wait for slowly get all games I like, when they get on really low sale.
