On the topic of appreciating/playing won gifts: Something that might be interesting is BLAEO, a group founded to encourage playing one's backlog. At the brand new website, it's possible to check how much a certain user has played their won games on Steamgifts.
If we take my stats as an example (also possible to sort after playtime to easier see what has been played), I've played roughly half of my wins, of which about 70% have the main story finished (marked as "beaten", or "completed" for the ones that have achievements and I managed to get 100%). I wish my stats would be a bit better, but considering I had very little time to play games last year, and I just started catching up this year, I think I'm doing pretty good (and I'm having loads of fun playing the great games kind users did giveaways for that I was lucky enough to win).
When comparing my stats to those of others, it seems like very few users have completed more than half of their wins, I wasn't really expecting that. There are also users with over 100 wins, and playtime just in a handful of games, so I see what you're getting at with some people who might seem to not appreciate what they win. I don't know if the BLAEO users are representative for the Steamgifts community though, it might be a place that attracts people with backlogs of unusual size, needing help and motivation to get started ;)

Lately I've the feeling that giving away some games on groups/private/open giveaways isn't the best way. Mostly because people won't just appreciate the game enough.
Most of my giveaways will be of unbundled games since games from bundles I already have places to give them away.
I don't have a specific requirement, make me laugh, tell a story... Just say Hi, maybe you'll be picked.
