I had a lot of features enabled in Enhanced SG extension and that led to the 429 error more than once. I have since turned off a lot of that, and I haven't seen that happen. I now only have a few simple features enabled to make browsing easier for myself. Maybe that's why?

It's during train creation...failed in the middle...so now I have 103 carts created with messed up links. I have to edit each one individually, and then go add the last 17. I sincerely hate the limits that were imposed that have been generating these errors. It's just been a constant lesson in frustration in using SG. </rant>
But hey, give me another hour and I'll be done. :D

That sure would be nice. Right now, this is just telling me not to do big things any more, because my reward is having SG steal a bunch of my time to fix things that break because of these limitations.

That's super rough. Sorry to hear that and that you had your time wasted. :<
Thanks for doing a train and a huge one at that. I'm excited to enter once it goes live. <3

No worries. I'm just whining. I'll get over it in a bit. Just wasn't part of my plans tonight. lol
I'm up to cart 80, so we're not too far off now...

I'll probably do a nice train once I am employed again in the post-plague future. For now, just gotta lean on other people's generosity and get a little lucky XD

I've been there. IT guy. Left a good position thinking I'd land something else in 4-6 weeks (which is all the longer it's ever taken me, so I might have been the slightest bit cocky at the moment - doh! π)...and the COVID hit. I was out of work for almost a year. It let me do some really cool events around here, but I like being strapped for time and drawing a paycheck better. :D
Good luck with the hunt!

I'm surviving for the time being and gonna try to get a part-time job plus get into a code bootcamp to not work food service after this.

Good call. If you can code, you can always find some kind of decent work. Demand is only going up. :)

Yeah. And with most of my friend group being devs and one of my roommates being a senior dev, I have a lot of resources for starting things out. Tried to teach myself, but plague depression and lack of direction really hindered that. lol

You are one of a dozen that I see here and know.
Dungeons and other fun stuff.
I dont see what you're saying as whiney or pissey. You are vocalizing a frustration about the boundaries that are most likely in place because of past abuse. <IMHO>

Sure thing. And, FWIW, I understand the purpose of putting them in place, especially from the perspective of reducing a lot of bot entries and site crawlers. Also, it encourages script writers to clean up their code. But ESGST has been re-optimized, and pretty well from what I can tell. This failed simply because I went to create a long train, and I don't see a way to avoid the failure. It's going to happen every time. Now, I can just create a shorter train, and then another shorter train, and so on, and then connect them, but that's still extra work. And that's kind of my point...I get wanting to block bad traffic and not pay for a lot of worthless bandwidth, but in doing so, a lot of the people who try to be active and do cool things for SG are getting punished as a side effect. It degrades my experience while using SG because stuff constantly breaks that used to work fine. So it essentially discourages me from doing certain types of events because I'll not only have to put in the planned large amount of time...I'll have to put in extra when the tools I use to build stuff fail because they were too chatty.
So yeah, it's pretty frustrating because I like creating significant things for the community here. It's a good place with good people and I want to be active in it. It's getting tougher to do when I know that the limitations are going to increase my prep time by a high percentage. But thanks for the empathy -- much appreciated. π
Well, enough about that! There's a bunch of bundle trash along with some mostly-not-trash available! Time to go dig through it! :)

Wow! What a big train!
Thank you and a merry cake day!

Ok, well, that took a little longer than expected due to that lovely 429 error in the middle of train creation, but hey, here we are, and there's free stuff for you!
Wow, FOUR YEARS! I really can't believe that it's been that long. But I've lived a whole lot of life (including surviving a bunch of historical events) during that time, so I'm not surprised that I've lost track.
I would've loved to have done a big event (like a Trash Tornadoβ’ or something) like I often do, but honestly this snuck up on me, and I didn't even realize that it was happening until the last minute. Then, I have this new job that's keeping me super busy and, well, I really just didn't have the time.
But hey, I did manage to throw together a train for y'all. It's 120 carts. A lot of it is trash, but there's some fun trash in there for sure. Also, there are a few non-trashy things, including a handful of non-bundled games (mostly indie ones, but still). So, jump on in and best of luck grabbing your share of trash and cake!
ππππππ
Oh, and the train runs for a week (ending on Feb 28th in the evening Central Time), and you'll need to be at least level 2 to enter. That's a nice, low bar for lots of participation, but it should filter out a lot of leechers and bots.
Also: there are a few keys in here that are reaaaaalllllyy old. Please be cool and agree to delete the GA if something goes pear-shaped. I'll find a consolation prize for you if that happens. π
