Browser seems to freeze a lot with my downloads (internet being terrible and all) so I was wondering if anyone uses and recommends some sort of download manager that they use or have used?

I guess for about 15 years I'm using 'Free Download Manager' for which I decided back then, after testing other downloaders when my original one (I can't even remember which one I've used before FDM) stopped working.
It always has just worked perfectly together with my browsers picking up whatever I want to download.

This is the one I use, too. Pretty good at picking up downloads where it left off.

Back when I had issues with downloads I used DownThemAll for Firefox, did the job pretty well. Doesn't seem to support the latest Firefox version (quantum) yet.

I use EagleGet.
It has a good extension for browsers too.

Oh, that sounds so nostalgic.
I was using Download Master in those days(some time though plugin for browser), this one was most comfortable, Dunnow about nowadays.

I haven't found the new ideal one yet. I liked JDownloader but it's Java and it was very broken towards the end with excessive updates.

I like UGet but it doesn't have any type of browser extension or link grabber. I used to use flashgot for that but now it's abandoned and doesn't work.

Second JDownloader, especially if you download from file locker sites or YouTube. It bypasses most of the "install program to download" wall on many sites and avoids most of the ads. It even supports resolving the download link which are hidden behind link shortener with ads.

The downside is that it's written with Java, so it will take up a good chunk of your memory (around 100 MB) even before you do anything.
