Well, based on his answers, and assuming he was being serious, it is obvious he doesn't quite get the concept. I don't know what BEDMAS is, but I assume it is another mnemonic for the order of operations?

If an equation is like this: [2X(2+2)], then the parenthesis is actually done first, so there is some difference.

Well, that's true, but the general rule of thumb I know is that the inner most set goes first, I mean, the wording is different but the order is the same of course.
It'd be like (2X[2+2]) the brackets would be done first, but I agree, generally it is written the way you wrote it.
