Just got back from Fencing, showered (dah) and poured a glass of Sutter home-Pinot Noir (which is really good!) and wondered what sports does the SG users like to do?
as i said, i go fencing twice a week (amateur level~)
i swim when i'm not lazy, and i used to go horseback riding when i was younger... no time now.

what about you? added a poll, but i'm sure i forgot something.
are you professional in anything?

Edit: not many people entered the GA. all of you have the game? or didn't notice. hope you look better now

Edit 2: NEW GIB TRAIN!

Recently I started to do some gym training. I don't have money to go on real gym, but I have some dumb-bells that I use. Also there are free city gyms on open air that I use. They are not best, but some of their machines are okay. I can't say it's proffesionall but recently i managed to do it at least two or three times a week so let's hope there will be some effects ;) I also want to go back to running but currently my form is low :P

Oh and sometimes I ride on bike (mine is in bad state so I use rented city bikes) or play some basketball but it's more like joking around that actually training this particular sports ;P

the "City gyms" are great. we also have them. and it's better than nothing right?
running alone is hard and boring. i only run when a friend drags me ;)

Yes of course! I'm not complaining but in my country local authorithies (or in general authorities) tend to do things with half-assets. As an results some if this gyms have like 6 or 7 machines, which would be great if three of them wouldn't be actually the same thing, with slight changes :P And it's not like creating few one type machines so more people can do same excercise mutually, it's more like creating two almost identicall things and telling people they are totally different. I'm gratefull for them but it kinda feels like wasted potential. Still, my dream is city gym like this one.

And about running... I know what you mean, but good music can help with that. Also, it's very rewarding when you are basically trying to throw out your lungs but still you manage to complete your target :)

the gym in the clip is very crazy. i don't think you can do that without someone to suprvise. and that costs money.
not sure...

Well, it sure is old. I think that today it would be created safer. Not to mention that with so much equipment they probably would put someone there to look at it, maybe someone who would check how old are you? You know, so they would grant enter only for old enough people who would declare they know what to do. I myslef wouldn't excercise on machines that I don't know how to use.

I used to play football(not american version of rugby, where they have to encase themselves in armor. I cri evritiem when I see that). Used to be semi-pro, but dropped it at the age of 19, just wasn't for me. I'm tall enough to play volleyball and basketball too, but never liked those. Well, I did enjoy volleyball...

Tried to learn how to ride a horse(grandfather taught me when i was very young, like 4, yep. Grandpa was a cavalryman during WW2, so yeah, he said every man should know how to ride a horse). I fell more than rode it, got stepped on few times, and discontinued. I think I could mount and stay in the saddle for some time, and a trot maybe, but not anything faster. Horses are just beautiful creatures I like to look at :)

But now... My only sport is trying to find a proper job, and playing games in the meantime :D

Going to the gym for 2 years now and also doing Tricking for 5 years now....video of it, since noone knows Tricking clicky 1, clicky 2 ...the guy in the second video is also a stuntman, he was Rinzler in Tron Legacy.

Tricking is just the best thing there is, you never learn out, the feeling you get from it is unparalleled to anything I've ever done and the possibilities are endless.
Here's one video for variations to ONE of the tricks you can do clicky 3

I have always thought something incredibly wrong happened when Americans called rugby an American Football. Calling cricket baseball makes more sense, since it doesn't mess up with another type of sports name. It would be the same if we called basketball in Europe handball, for example. Basketball fans in Europe wouldn't be interested to see the real handball since they would be used to a completely different game under that name (I realize handball is far from a popular sport, I am just giving an example).

Thing is, football and rugby aren't that similar, if at all, and Americans who are used to seeing 'football' with fights find it very weird to see a different, far more technically demanding sport, where you can't try to kill your opponents while going for the ball (at least not if you play by the rules). Both sports have their own strong sides, but they don't really have anything in common, other than that both are played on grass. Calling football soccer doesn't help that much I'm afraid, as everyone else outside of the US and Canada calls it football, afaik.

Edit: Me, I play basketball casually, ride a bike and I am a quite slacking runner when I go for that. Some swimming in the summer, too. Need to do more of all of those, but most of the times I find a lame excuse to do it less.

I wish I could find a sport that I liked, but they just tend to get so repetitive after a while, so I just lose all motivation. Done a bit of martial arts (ju-jutsu), tried going to the gym for a while, tried tennis and a couple of team sports, and most recently rock climbing, but none were able to keep me interested/motivated.

Quite similar. Differences are in tweaks to the rules, really - softball has a larger ball, underhand pitching, shorter distance between bases and between pitcher's mound and home plate, smaller overall field.
