I left it over night for 10 hours and woke up to find it still on the same game and it hasn't even dropped anything..

This is not intended as a complaint, moreso a bug report / feature suggestion. I am quite thankful for the time and effort put into this project by jshackles and all contributors.
I'm encountering a bug with v1.01.0 in which I have many games under the 2 hr playtime threshold but I'm not sure if it is advancing these in the queue as opposed to just sitting on them and accumulating hours beyond the 2 hr mark. The program is consistently sending a game which has 5+ hours and one card drop left to the top of the currently idling list despite the fact that I have hundreds of games with zero time played.
It's difficult to tell if this is occurring with all games in the idling queue or not since there is no list of which games are currently idling. It would be nice to be able to expand the idling info to see which games are actually being idled.

A new update just got rolled out that should fix some of the stuff you mentioned! So that's great! ^__^ http://steamcommunity.com/groups/idlemastery#announcements/detail/92673840291392249

tbh, I haven't used it since steam's new refund policy.
Got like a hundred cards overdue, and I can't be bothered to run every game for at least 2+ hours.
Still works though, but annoys the hell outta me, that it takes 2 hours for the first card to drop.

That true? Thanks for letting me know. Going to try later.

my card drop amounts are higher then they should be for going on weeks now

i think the new version 1.1.0.0 is bugged. it opens 4 games and each of them has "hours: 0" (idle master is running for some time now...)
the "next check" is at 00:00 for the hole time and my steam status only says "online" without an active game. hmm.

Loving the feature of idling 30 games at a time to burn through the 2 hours thing.
I've used Idle Master on my alternative account before, and had consdidered using it on my main but had always concluded that I had so many card drops remaining that even with Idle Master it would take longer than I was happy with. That conclusion grew even stronger after Steam implemented the 2 hour wait for card drops, but this feature has led to me giving it a try.
Got 1076 games with drops remaining and am just going through the 2 hours for each the last few days on and off. Now up to the letter "Q" in the alphabet. Once that's done, I'll start on actually getting the cards to drop.
Should have taken me 2152 hours to get to the point where I had 2 hours on every game with drops which is right around 3 months. With this it will take less than 72 hours of use.

There's a companion application to IM, so to say, which runs games that have cards to drop but don't have 2 hours of playtime, until they reach that threshold. It runs them in batches of 25, so it's relatively fast.

I dont know if you can with Idle Master. You can try with SAM, it let you chose the game.

Is there a limit to the amount of time this should be used? I logged in for the first time yesterday and saw that I have 2224 card drops remaining from 588 games. I started the program (first time ever) and it seemed to work so I left it on over night. I looked today and the program had switched me to no longer being connected to Steam but was still running. Steam logged all those hours (running 30 games at a time) but no drops were made and it didn't move on to any other games since it didn't read me as logged in any more. Now I have a ton of hours and no cards. I'm wondering if this is a bad thing?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah. It started running 30 games and they were left at 2.2 hours to move on to the next 30. It apparently disconnected during the second batch of 30 because they have over 12 hours each logged with no card drops. Now I have over 450 hours of playtime in the last two weeks because, well, 60 games running will do that. I'm nervous that will set off a flag with Volvo?

I need to start using it, otherwise getting all the cards is IMPOSSIBLE:
1155 card drops remaining
317 games with drops remaining
Worth Approximately 53,12€

Oh god, 4 months since I wrote that and I'm still not done (312 drops remaining) but I already got quite a lot out of this including Witcher 3 :D

I updated Idle Master to the newest version about a week ago.
Whenever I leave it on overnight, it will log out sometime after I go to bed every night and nothing is gained.
I am past the "idle batches of games to the 2 hour mark" phase and onto the "actually idling for cards" phase.
Does anyone else have this issue?

It did for me, reinstalling seems to have fixed it though

I cannot log in to Idle Master and can't even access the community page on Steam for it. Getting
An error occurred while processing your request.

all the time. Is anybody else having this issue?
I restarted my computer and even un- and then reinstalled the program, nothing helps :°(

Today i got the same error 2-3 times when i want to log on SG or i want to connect to steam using browser...

Are you factoring in that games do not drop cards until after 2 hours of play time?
Comment has been collapsed.
My Idle Master is working its ass off :P
Now the only question is, how do you sell your cards?
Do you use quick sell, instant sell or just set the price at the current lowest price like I do (which takes a lot of time and it may not get bought)?
Comment has been collapsed.
Check the card's market history. Sell it at the price it sells the most amount of times. If that price is oversaturated and you are not patient, set it a cent lower.
If the sells are few and slow, consider cutting under the current best price, a lot closer to the maximum bid. If the max bid is like 3-5 cents, don't bother.
Comment has been collapsed.
What do you suggest as a follow-up to the "don't bother" choice? More and more cards are in that price range but I really have no use for them...
Comment has been collapsed.
Check the market history there too and determine a price where the card may sell. It may be 5 cents for some games, but usually around 7-10 cents, especially for bundle games. (US cents. In Eurocents, it's 4 minimum and 6-8 on average.)
Although I'd say just use those cards to trade the duplicates and get the badge. You may get more out of the received emote and wallpaper even if crushed to gems. In the long run a sack of gem can be valuable – for example, I do accept them for bundle games at a fairly reasonable price. (Or, well, at least I think 1 sack per 7 USD non-sale store price is reasonable…)
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not sure I understood your points. Are you telling me card prices also go back up? I´m not following the market closely these days but I was under the impression that the 4-5 cents price range becomes permanent at some point.
I don't care one bit about the badges as such, but honestly I never thought about the fact that they give you items that you can sell. That's interesting, but how often does it actually happen that the items you get have more value than the full card set you invested in it?
Finally, I cannot comment on the specific deals you're offering, but for bundle games the "non-sale store price" is pretty irrelevant.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not often and depends on card drops. There are a few indie games with 5-card sets that have cutesy emotes that sell. Sometimes for a lot. Or, for example, I got more money for two FFXIII backgrounds than the card set they cost. (And the cards there are expensive… really expensive.)
Gems are more like multi-purpose items, currency like CS keys. Of course you need at least a thousand to count…
Card prices go up sometimes, but only for non-bundled games. Rarely for bundle games, only in case if it was bundled once or twice, then not again for a very long time.
I'm saying that your base of price should be market history. See what sells and at what price. If it doesn't sell, check the "have" and "need" prices and try to come up with a value that can satisfy potential buyers but won't undercut too much.
For example, if people want to buy something for 10 cents and the best offer is 36 cents, but you can see that nobody made any sale in a month, consider putting it up for 12-16 cents instead. This is a significant undercut, but one that is a lot closer to find an actual buyer.
Card prices of the same set are also a factor. Sometimes you can sell a card for 50 cents even if the others go for 20 cents, but this needs luck. Over time card prices in a set tend to reach the same levels, even for foils.

Thanks for the insight! I'll try to keep it all in mind.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks, I think I'm also a bit greedy considering every cent counts when it comes to selling over 1000 cards :P but better it sells for a lower price than not at all.
Comment has been collapsed.
I successfully used this to over the past weekend to idle for all my remaining cards drops. Unfortunately out of some 150 cards, I didn't get a single foil. :P
Comment has been collapsed.
True. But sometimes it requires patience. I listed a foil card for a game that didn't have a lot of trading activity and after two months it sold for $5.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep, I still have 2 foil cards and none of them have been bought yet ^^

Hi,
I used to be able to use it without any problem but since yesterday when i try using Idle Master it keeps saying invalid cookie or log in error. I put the write session id and everything, i'm sure i'm connected on steam community but it doesn't work anymore. Any idea what it may be?
Comment has been collapsed.
Are you using the old version? With session ID?
Anyways I did a quick search and jshackles has a response here:

I created an application that automatically idles your Steam games to extract all of your available Steam Trading Cards. The application automatically finds the games you have drops remaining in, and idles those games one by one until all of your trading cards are in your inventory. This way, you can start up the program and go to sleep / work / away and come back to an inventory full of cards.
Website
Source Code
Official Group
Installation Instructions
Go to the Official Site, download and run the setup.exe file there. The program should launch automatically when the installation is complete. Make sure Steam is open and you're logged in. To start idling, you'll need to click the (Sign In) button and sign in to Steam. Once that's done you should be "in-game" on Steam and the program will indicate as such. Now go watch TV, go to bed, or go on vacation. When you come back to your computer, you should have a pile of Trading Cards in your inventory.
Some FAQ
How does this work?
First of all, the program will determine which of your games still have card drops remaining. It will go through each application and simulate you being “in-game” so that cards will drop. It will check periodically to see if the game you’re idling has card drops remaining. When only one drop remains, it will start checking more frequently. When the game you’re idling has no more cards, it’ll move on to the next game. When no more cards are available, the program will exit.
Do I need to download a game in order for this program to get it's trading cards?
No.
Do I need to be logged in to Steam for Idle Master to work?
Yes, Steam needs to be running and you must be logged in.
Can I play a game while this is running?
It’s possible, but doing so may significantly reduce your card drop rate. For best results, exit this program before playing a game.
How do I close the application?
Simply click the red X on the application.
Is this safe?
Presumably so, yes. The program that simulates you being in-game is no different than other popular methods like using Steam Achievement Manager or "the AppID trick".
Why do I need to sign in to Steam from the application?
When you visit your badges page on Steam, it will show you how many card drops you have remaining in each game. When another user looks at your badges page, they can only see the badges you've completed. By signing in, this allows Idle Master to connect to Steam properly and gives it access to this information that only you can see.
Why should I trust this?
The entire project is open source, which includes the source code for all binaries.
Troubleshooting
Idle Master looks like it's working, but I'm not getting any Steam Trading Cards.
First of all, be patient. Idle Master doesn't make them drop any faster than they normally would if you were playing the game, and each game has a different drop rate. Another thing to check is that your Steam profile correctly shows that you're "In-Game". If Steam doesn't think you're "In-Game", it means something is wrong with your configuration.
