If you could choose only one, would you choose getting a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X?

Xbox Series X
PlayStation 5

If you have the money go for both. If you don't then go to both stores and check out the exclusives, check out the prices of the accessories and the games and make your opinion on what you can afford. Today's consoles have a lot less exclusives as before so the best way to decide is what you want to play on what console its cheaper and what you are willing to spent in the long run for stuff like Xbox Live and PS Plus and any future additional things that might come out.

Your survey needs a PC option and a potato option. Just saying.

Metal Gear Solid was a strong reason to buy a PlayStation, I can't find a good reason to buy a PS5 nowadays, no clue on which games are pulling this console.

IMHO:
PS2 > Xbox
PS3 < X360
PS4 > Xbox One
PS5 = Xbox Series X?

Right now I own neither, but I´ll probaply end up owning both as usual... but I´ve never been this undescided wich might be the better one. Both look equally promising to me. Main point for PS5 are Sonys awesome Singleplayer IPs while Microsoft has the gamepass and seems to´ve drawn the right conclusions from their Xbone-Failures.

In the end I might end up buying a PS5 as main console and a Series S for the Gamepass... with the PC as my main-plattform as always (especially acompanied by a Steam Deck in the near future 😀). We´ll see.

TL;DR: In this generation at that point in time, I REALLY couldn´t decide.

Own a series X and best console I have ever owned. Everything just works without problems, gamepass is crazy good value, quick resume is a joy and Microsoft has really turned things around and treat gamers with respect. Backwards compatibility is a joy. Some of my friends own ps5 and have switched over to xbox mainly due to the price of games and just how much more value there is with xbox. I have a decent pc but mostly game on xbox due to couch coop and the big screen.

I only play on PC and mobile, but if I had to choose I'd probably go with the Series S, seems like the best option out there right now when you take into consideration the price and Game Pass.
On the other hand I really hope I get to buy a Deck at some point, that thing is a dream come true.

At some point in my life I really wanted to have PS4, but my family couldn't afford it back in the day. Now I can afford myself both of PS5 and Series X, but I'm not going to buy them. Tbh I don't find PS5 exclusives that good as PS4's was. And yesterday I was playing Days Gone on my PC with xbox one controller, so why would you even need a console lol. A lot of console exclusives are still coming to Steam. I feel like consoles are a good thing only for people who doesn't play a lot and or opposite - REALLY wants to play new games.

I would rather buy Switch to play some cute games and portable versions, but yeah Steam Deck is winning, I wouldn't have to buy a lot of games with broken regional prices, just open your library and play.

My dream is Nintendo DS and 3DS tho, there a lot of hidden gems on them.

My personal preference would be Series X, mainly because of Game Pass. I can't afford the latest PS5 games on full price, which seem to be going up in this gen. So, getting a bunch of new and old games for a relatively smaller monthly fee would be preferable.

Xbox Series S & X has also the Internet Browser , this mean so you can use it also for play\enjoy Stadia,AmazonLuna,GeforceNow so Cloud Caming... Playstation 5 viceversa don't have the browser because Sony Playstation decide to remove it from the console,so you can't use it for enjoy cloud\gaming streaming services

Phsyconauts 2 recently get very high votes,it's an Xbox\PC Exclusive that it's not playable on Playstation consoles AND the most important thing you can play it for FREE by doing microsoft rewards and get 1 month of Xbox Game Pass.

Vice Versa Playstation Exclusives at Launch\Release will cost $99\120€ each
Xbox Exclusives vice versa is on XboxGamePass at Dayone Release date.
then if you don't have the money for afford them the Playstation5 is nothing beacuse will stay on mobile get DUST and after 3 years when PS5Pro will be release is already Obsolete...without to talk about the PS6 and she's exclusives that probabily will come after 6 years from the ps5 launch and so on... we see already this wiith ps3\ps4\ps4pro\ps5 and xbox360\xboxone\xboxonex\xboxseriesx with all this money itinerations you can just buy a PC and play on PC and be happy, not need a console.

This said STEAM DECK in my opinion is BETTER than XboxSeriesX + PS5 + Nintendo too, togheder, a device that you can use for play everywhere also outside or in bed, with cheap deals STEAM games and full FREEDOM of use (not jailed in 1 single closed store) , it's a dream.

I have a PS5 and no Xbox Series X...I don't see a reason to own an Xbox as a PC player.

If you game on PC, then there's little reason to go xbox, as you can do gamepass and play most microsoft exclusives on PC.

I bought a PS5 (got lucky with a major chain, didn't need to pay scalper fee), I am happy with my purchase. If (when) I have more time, I might look into the XSX too, I think both are great consoles.

Truth be told if you are on a budget and have no huge backlog library or previous attachments to certain exclusive franchises, I would say XSX with gamepass is the way to go (for my taste XSS is not a good deal as it lacks too much in performance and whats the point of owning a console if not to play it on a big ass TV screen??).

My opinion doesn't hold any weight because I've never considered getting either of them as I am very happy with my PC, but I would pick a PlayStation so I could play Ghost of Tsushima. I hear it's coming to PC though so I'm very excited to play it come 2022.
The only console I've ever been tempted to get is the Switch so I can play the new Pokémon games and animal crossing, but I can't justify the purchase for a handful of games.
