Hey guys. I'm fairly new to the site. I was wondering if I can just use my friends list for doing this specific giveaway without having to just use the invite with a private url to all my friends.

Add them to your wishlist whitelist or create a group for your friends :)

Above is a friendly smile to brighten your day. A tiny mistake is like no mistake at all.
One could also argue that whislist and whitelist both abbreviated WL and as such equivalent

You would have to either add each of them to your whitelist and make the giveaway whitelist-only, or create a group, invite them all to the group and then create the GA for the group.

No nicer solution for it though unfortunately

Private url is the easiest way but you could make a group with all your friends in it, or add all your friends to your whitelist and do a whitelist only giveaway.

If you have the Enhanced Steam plugin installed, their steam profiles will have a link to their SteamGifts account page (if they're registered with the site). [The plugin sometimes doesn't function correctly outside of Chrome, so keep that in mind.] That's an easy way to get them all added to your whitelist- though generally, even if they're registered on the site, most aren't likely to be active, from the trends I've noticed. So in that regard, you'll likely have to contact them anyway, and hence, simply sending out private invite links is simplest. :)
