1. Mafia - played it 2 or 3 times and I'd play it once more if it'd appear on Steam again. My favourite game ever I think.
2. Football Manager 2011 - about 850 hours spent on playing this game. You can call me FM11 addict.
3. Call Of Juarez: Gunslinger - oh my, oh my... VERY good FPS with crazy and unique storytelling. Also I laughed a lot with this one.

Borderlands 1 & 2 - Simply fun :D

Warframe - Over 1200 hours until I had enough of the grind. I read above you've tried to get into it, it may be overwhelming for new entrants with the huge array of weapons and a multitude of frames. Sadly with little effort and a bit of help you can simply bypass a lot of the grind and get the better weapons in the game and some of the easier to use frames. This will trivialize most of the game, essentially turning it into a simple grind-fest to "collect them all". This has lead to many to "beat" the game, what they consider "end game", in very little time and with very little effort.

Dungeon Defenders - Over 2200 hours until I had enough of the grind. The sequel is currently in beta and is quite similar, best of all its free

3. South Park: The Stick of Truth (This game made me watch the entire tv shows and got me hooked)

2: Final Fantasy 9 (yes yes, 7 was great, but 9 was more lighthearted, fun, easy to get into and well-balanced gameplaywise. Even if the story might be a few steps behind)
3: Heroes of Might and Magic 3
