Bump!
The perfect game I've played for this kind of mindset is Desktop Dungeons. Don't let the name disuade you. It is a wonderful game.
Rounds are short, and you can interrupt them as you like.

I added this game to my wishlist. Remember a little bit the Guild of Dungeoneering.
Thanks, popocho!

Maybee you should try https://store.steampowered.com/app/418240/Shadow_Tactics_Blades_of_the_Shogun/
This game is divided into missions. in the beginning they will took 20-30 minutes. But later missions will take more time.
Alsoin the same genre you could try https://store.steampowered.com/app/610370/Desperados_III/ and Commandos series (https://store.steampowered.com/sub/4156/)
You said that you don't want to play strategies, because of short early turns and long later turns. But you could try https://store.steampowered.com/app/277450/Imperial_Glory/ . The game is old, but realy interesting. Here you can try to play only the politician part (build different buildings, creat unions with other countries, build army) and skip (autobattle) all battles. Or you can rule your army in every battle on the ground and in the sea. Each of them will take probably from 10 to 30 mins. So playing battles in early game, and skiping in late game, you will get almost the same time for your turns. Also game has several separate historic battles, where you can choose your side.

Alsoforgot to mention games like House flipper https://store.steampowered.com/app/613100/_/ or Car mechanic simulator https://store.steampowered.com/app/645630/Car_Mechanic_Simulator_2018/ . You can count as turns one restored house/car.
Or if you like guns you could try https://store.steampowered.com/app/262410/World_of_Guns_Gun_Disassembly/ . Here you can disassemble and reassemble real guns, learn its parts. Count as 1 gun for 1 turn, and you also can stop with gun in any time you want
But maybe these games are more relaxing, and less entertaining.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is a masterpiece. I spent almost all day on a single map, in the late missions, trying to do things absolutely right (and trying to get the achievements). I added Desperados III to the wish list because it looks similar.
Skip battles is a good strategy. I usually do this in the Endless Legend and the Endless Space when I'm short of time. : )

A lot of people tell you about roguelites. You also should try Binding of isaac (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1426300/The_Binding_of_Isaac_Repentance/). On days it got last dlc, and became completely new game

Oh, eu gostei bastante do primeiro, mas achei que as batalhas eram um pouco difíceis demais pra um jogador casual, então não sei se vou encarar o 2 e 3 se não tiver muito tempo livre para "derrotar" o jogo.
Plantera e Dragon Cliff parecem bons! Vou colocá-los na lista de desejos!
Valeu, MarcioCavalcanti!

DarkDreams1 already recommended Darkest Dungeon to you, but I'm gonna do it again :D. This game can be stressful, but I actually played it the way you described. Each fight in the game shouldn't take you even 10 minutes, the main thing is you always need to pause the game manually bcs the game wants you to play itself fast and it will punish you if you will go away for too long.

just a random gibberish I came up to when I needed some unique nickname for MMO (but I liked that gibberish because it's m y gibberish and decided to keep it)

Yeah! And the suggestion surprised me. The game looks incredible, but I thought it was 'continuous', you know? Without the possibility to stop in the middle...
I'm getting very good tips here, including on games I already wanted to play (like Stardew Valley).
Thanks, lamusette!

Cook Serve Delicious is great at what you want out of the game! Days are fixed in IRL length (about 10 minutes), otherwise it has some management between days. Progression is guaranteed, gameplay is fast-paced typing-like game. In my experience simular, high-octane games are great to segment work, because every burst of game has a defined end, and it's super engaging.

It's not the same as TWoM or This is the Police, but I really enjoyed Neon Chrome in a similar situation. It's a Top Down Shooter with 3 minute rounds.

The style of play is similar to that of the (incredible) Hotline Miami.

Not sure if it fits what you want (probably not as at the end you have to spend a bit of time until you reach the top), but i found it to be really fun and if you die you restart and buy stuff to improve (it is like a mobile game but i really enjoyed it and didn't feel like a mobile game). Well, maybe you better check some videos :D :

I followed this topic from the first comments and thought that people would write about these games.
1) I recommend trying The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth - you can set a rule for yourself - "go through 3 rooms" or "one floor" and then pause.
If you haven't played this before, buy only Rebirth, there is so much content here that you don't need DLC for the first time.
If you really like it, then buy Afterbirth and Repentance.
2) The second game is Gnomes Garden, I really love this series. The levels are not very long, nicely drawn and fun to play.
They have a lot of games, start with the first and second parts, they are the best. And then at the sale you can buy the rest at a big discount.
3) You can try some races, for example DiRT Rally was given for free, and it's good. One track is covered in 5-10 minutes. Perfect.
4) Hexcells Infinite is one of my favorite games, it has an endless mode - new levels are randomly generated there. A great way to keep yourself busy for 5-10 minutes, and also good for the brain! =)
5) Brickochet - the best arkanoid in Steam, one break - one level, it's simple.
6) And finally - The Unexpected Quest. An interesting time management game, the first levels are passed quickly, then they become longer. There is a free prologue where you can try the game and then buy the full version if you like it.

I am glad that I helped at least a little! 😊
I myself sometimes try to do the same as you. Alternating useful household chores with games. Therefore, I understand you perfectly.
I also did not write about fighting games, since this is a specific genre, not for everyone. But for example, one session with the enemy in MK11 takes just 10-15 minutes.

I like your approach to housework. I might copy that ;) maybe except the 10 minutes thing, I'll try 30 minutes at least.
I can suggest you two free games.
Battle for Wesnoth: turn-based strategy game. Depending on the campaign you play, scenarios (and turn length) vary from short to long. Generally, initial turns are short because you recruit units and move them around to get some advantage points without fighting. Later turns are much longer because of the strategy of the fights and the many units around. I know turns don't have the almost-fixed time lapse you seek, but being turn-based you can save/leave the game whenever you want and come back later.
Path of Exile: action rpg game. First you need to play the game and level up your character (it requires some time, especially if you're a novice). Once finished, you reach the endgame, where you play the so-called "maps". Based on your character strength and clear speed, maps almost require the same time to finish. You could play, I don't know, 2 or 3 maps between your house stuff.
Thanks for the giveaways!

I try to limit the playing time, because some tasks are very fast, and then it seems unfair to play for 30 minutes and work for 2. But you can do more than one task at a time, to make up for it. Any strategy is valid to "keep the mood". 😃
Your description of Path of Exile sounds a lot like Torchlight II, I even did a similat thing before... after the end of the game I stayed in that part where you use the dungeon maps. I can't explain it well, but I think the concept must be the same. 🤔 But at the time, I didn't think about alternating maps with my tasks. This is a good tip!

I can't really find words to advertise the charm of these games but all I can say is they're good for 10-30 mins of gameplay, I usually play these when I'm sick of playing my multiplayer / gacha games and I can't find the power to finish a game with 4hrs+ story for now
Runestone Keeper
Infested Planet
Faster than Light
Mirror Also NSFW
Sunless Sea

The users here gave really good tips, considering very different genres. : )
In less than 24 hours, I increased my wishlist on Steam and my withelist here (I included you too, because you have a good ratio and your profile picture reminds me of Terry Pratchett's Death).

I know exactly what you mean! I have similar issues and the self-reward system really helps to go through anything I don't want to tackle, providing I fraction the to-do lists in smaller size steps and items.
Lots of great games have already been mentioned but I'm adding these:
Immortal Redneck (Roguelite I had a lot of fun with recently)
One-finger Death Punch ( and 2) (the game is organized in rounds and stages so you can use that easily for your purpose and they're super fun)
Some adventure games are also divided in chapters, which may help.

Well, as it must happen with some gamers, sometimes I get overloaded with work or household chores... and without much enthusiasm to finish anything (shame on me).
When this happens, I usually play games that have fixed rounds, alternating each turn with a task. For example: I put the clothes to wash and play one turn, wash the dishes and play another turn, and so on… This helps me to do some tasks without feeling overwhelmed or sad because I am unable to dedicate a lot of time to myself or because I don't take care of my house and other responsibilities (ok, it's weird, but it works).
So… I need very specific games, which have regular time shifts. Like This War of Mine (which was the first game I won here, four years ago) and This is The Police I and II, which divide the shifts into days, where you perform some actions and then end the round.
4x games don’t work, because the initial turns of the game are very fast (since you have little to manage), and the final turns are too long (since you have a million cities, soldiers, workers and enemies to worry about). The ideal is that the turns always have an approximate duration (around 10 minutes, perhaps?).
If you can recommend something that can help me (while I still have fun) I will be very grateful. : )
For those who have not yet had the opportunity to play any of the games I mentioned, click here.
