Impire, even the demo; Space Seige; Legendary; and D&D-Daggerfall. Games that had potential, but didn't feel like it reached anywhere near where they should have. EDIT: saw someone listed Twin Sector, I must have blacked that game out of my mind, lol

+1 for Chrono Cross, I wasted 50 hours on that terrible game :(

Hate to point this out, but if it was so terrible, why did you play it for 50 hours?

The first 5 hours of the game was excellent, after that it just kept getting worse and worse, but after 20 hours I just wanted to see the ending(and I still had hope for the game to get back to the quality of the first 5 hours :/, you know "I am in the worst part of the game, it will get better soon", unfortunately it didn't), so I tortured myself for another 30 hours :(, stupid I know but inevitable(for me lol :P)

I had issues with the first one (which is the only one I've played), and the weapon switch mechanics, but I am willing to give the game another try when I get the chance to.

Question does't make sense to me honestly, what do you mean? Regret playing a game? If I decided to spend hours playing something it would be fun right? Why would I regret fun?
:-/

^this. If I don't like something / reckon I'll regret it, I would have stopped before putting much time into it.

But it was fun right? So....its not a waste, I guess I just don't get it....

Thats not healthy really...but guess some people need to? I kinda can see that way of thought but it seems almost counter productive.

Here's an example for you, I'm hooked on the total war series and I really liked the setting/mechanics of Empire total war, the problem is that it has a savegame bug which corrupts end-game savegames, so after playing multiple campaigns I never really got to finish a campaign and every time I started a new campaign I would tell myself that this time it won't happen again.
But it did.
So despite the fact that the game itself is quite awesome I really regret playing it for hundreds of hours and if I would have known that that would happen every time when i'm 50-100 hours into a campaign I wouldn't even have purchased a legit copy.

Perhaps one didn't achieve the level of fun that was expected of the game, I guess. Some people will sit through lengthy battles and cutscenes to reach the "payoff" part of the game. Whether it be the progression of the plot or the feeling of power that a maxed out character gives. In that case, maybe the payoff wasn't anywhere near what they were expecting. A personal example would be Hydrophobia, for me. The plot seemed interesting enough, and I liked the idea of the dynamic water mechanics. But the game was clunky and the camera was a bit nauseating at times. I never finished it, but the plot never seemed to progress anywhere, really, and I kinda regret having spent the time(4.9h) I did on it.
Or they could simply be completionists (like I am somewhat, it bugs me to no end whenever I see hydrophobia in my library :P), and want to complete the games they start, regardless of how bad it is.

World
Of
Warcraft.
This game has been more of a bitch to me than any woman ever has or ever could. It's like a relationship and I've reached that point where I looked back on it all and I wonder why I stayed in it for so long. A few good times, but the love-HATE was always in the back of my mind and I guess I just couldn't take it anymore. Still if I could have all that time back I would.

Any MMORPG I've ever been dumb enough to play... ever. (Even though I refuse to spend any money on them.)
And recently I've been doing it again by playing TERA... WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? O_o
I'd say it's even worse that some of them truly had potential before they went downhill. RuneScape used to be good(ish) when it wasn't a shameless money grab(that notion seems to have consumed the video games industry nowadays -.- ). Rusty Hearts used to have a semi-interesting story until what I can only assume was it's developers completely ditching the game.
