Won't prices be lower for you now ?

Yeah, exactly. Some games are very cheap right now.

I'm more concerned about a possible future restriction they may put in games (like in Russia) and how it's going to affect trades in general.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You shouldn't worry about restrictions, they are already there. Try searching for some games like Bully. The real problem lies in the impeding taxation of all games.

Comment has been collapsed.

LOL. I would be very happy to get games at steam with my country currency, not in Euro.

You're lucky, buddy.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Me too. Especially since that would probably mean much cheaper games, since Steam would need to make prices match those of retail shops, which are more or less twice cheaper (or they would look really, really silly).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If they were to change to AUD instead of USD it would be more expensive. I guess this is the one scenario where having a foreign currency is a benefit (though they have the prices raised to nearly twice the US version).

Your steam is different than mine <.< is this BRASIL only steam?with shop and other icons like that or just a skin?

Just checked some prices, it is not that bad, it is actually cheaper than when I bought some of them in US dolars. and we will probably not pay some fees cause of international transactions, maybe.

All games are $1 - $5 cheaper in general.

I hope so.

Well a $15 game is something about $12.30. Let's hope we don't get region locked games.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

there are already plenty of region locked games in brazilian steam.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I doubt they will be region locked, the difference in price is not that big. And since it is now a fixed BRL price, thay wont be changing it every time the currency fluctuates.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I wouldn't worry about region locking. Even if they did, people are still getting around it or else the unauthorized RU key resellers wouldn't be in business.

I think we may have some problems with "violent games" because of our stupid laws...

Yup, but our stupid laws don't say anything about digital selling. They only ban retail selling.
However, Steam don't let us buy Bully Scholarship Edition anyway... -.-'

I heard they are discussing about digital distribution legislation aiming price balance, then we can expect bad news in the future.

You're outdated dude, that farse called Jogo "Justo" was just to help his friends of bigs game shops. On youtube there's a interview of him saying that he wanted to bring Steam to Brazil, to collect taxes and that sort of thing, because now he is working to the government.

He is a liar.

Just read the articles. Yeah, we must beat him up to teach him how stuff works. But I don't think Dilma is going to tax things and so. And if goes by that, Gaben will run away quickly, and everything will turn back to normal.

E quanto a Lei.

(for english speakers, I'm talking about adding funds to the wallet using "boleto" - bank slip I think, so we don't have to pay international taxes)

Thanks Steam <3

It's not ALWAYS cheaper.
Black Ops 2 = 59 dollars = 119 actual reais and it's 109 reais on Steam.
Portal 2 = 15 dollars = 30 actual reais and it's 35 reais on Steam right now.
I don't know how the fuck they are converting this stuff.

Aparentemente, alguns jogos da valve ficaram mais caros. L4D2 também foi para R$35. Estranhamente, CS:GO foi para R$25. Jogos mais novos, mais baratos; jogos mais velhos, mais caros. Vai entender...

I got an email about this a couple of days ago, and I think it's good for us, because we avoid some of our ginormous taxes, plus this is on steam:
Has the availability of games on Steam changed with this?
No changes have been made to the contents of your library or to the list of games available for purchase via the Steam store. All of the languages and features in the games that existed when the store was priced in USD are still available.

Os descontos poderiam ser maiores... Se o dólar baixar para menos de R$1,80, já começaremos a levar prejuízo em alguns jogos. Mas, por enquanto, tudo bem. Nada de IOF, o que já um bônus.

Well I really hope it doesn't come to that. I think the reason why RU games are region restricted is because a lot of people were making money abusing traded Steam games.
