I guess people are raising money to buy sale items. They need quick cash to buy a flash deal or something?

I was 100% sure this will happen, though I didn't expect Dota keys going under 1.50€ at the first day.

Huh, I'm trying to sell some keys for my usual price... guess I'll have to wait until the end of summer sale. :/
Either people raising money to go on a shopping spree or a massive injection of carded keys.^^

or you can buy some keys now and sell them when Summer Sale ends so you can have some profit.

Seems like people are tired of waiting in line to get there 2.10 - 2.16 selling point, So are lowering prices selling them much faster. (Probably for the summer sale) but damn, i am selling key in tf2 for 6 ref right now XD nuts!!

Rumour has it that the new patch has killed off idling. Not sure how that would adversely affect the TF2 key prices (if anything, wouldn't they rise?), although I have no more expertise in economics/Mannconomics than my cat.

Has it? I'm not getting drops so.... Glad I didn't buy that premium gift I was thinking of just yesterday.

Dota 2 is now out of beta, so maybe Valve wants the economy to move over.

what do u mean? killed idling? yesterday I invested 25€ in premium accs?
why is idling dead now?

I'm no expert, I've had a quick search and it seems text-mode idling is currently not working, but drops are. Someone mentioned "mp_idledealmethod 0" works, but I don't know what that means.

There is a new patch coming now, so maybe it is being fixed (hope).

RIP TF2 Idling 12.07.2013.

Lived too fast; died too young.

Its been said by people that when you idle in TF2, after you get your first drop, you have to confirm it, otherwise, no other drops will happen until you do.

If they got rid of idling, keys price would be lower (talking in refs, since no idle = no crazy number of weapons = no "infinite" metal = higher value for metal)

This is a obvious thing, ppl want to sell all their items fast to get Steam Wallet.

the most funny is that Dota's 2 treasure keys now cost less than tf2 keys, Dota 2 keys ppl just put it and put it with less and less price, and demand is not big as for tf2 keys. Not only keys dropped in price, other things too like cards.

Well if you have the belief they will go back and the balls to do it, might be a good time to invest :S

i saw a few people selling massive amounts of game keys for TF2/Dota2 keys in preparation for the summer sale so my guess would be that those same people might be underselling now to convert them

this sort of thing always happens around a sale, it'll rebound back eventually. I just regret not selling off some of my stuff a week or so ago because I'm currently trying to hold it for the long term.

I knew this was going to happen in this sale, people try to sell them to get money and buy games for a cheap price

That's easy. The game got an update 1 day before the update adding new keys, people wanted new keys, so they sold their old keys (now at the market) for real moneh. Suddennly, summer sale hits, with even more people trying to get moneh to buy games. Simple as that.

It's recovered in price slightly now.

why are tf2 keys so expensive now?!?!

The price recovered. There's no longer as many people desperate to sell keys (because of the sale) so they're not undercutting each other as much.

Because they're back to normal as people aren't trying to quick sell them to buy stuff on the summer sale.

Should've bought like 999 keys during the sale to resell.

Seling at $2.20 gets you only $1.91 after VAT (Valve Arsehole Tax :p) so you'd only be making a few cents per key.

yeah, not worth the time and electricity costs it would take to make any decent profit trading with keys.
