First, most of them buy stuff on sale, so it isnt really $200.
Second, some give away lots of copies of just a few games that they really like and want others to enjoy.
Last, the same reason people give in any other aspect.

So the site owes you something before you will spend money? Cheapskate.

I'm unemployed and dealing with bills on what little income I do get. I've still bought a game and two DLCs, along with a key I had from another site.

I've been buying games since I was 8 years old, what does age have to do with anything?

lol, I'm middle-low class, but this is how I view how money is spent:
Be a fatass and order a Double Quarter Pounder w/ cheese + fries and a drink or
Skip that bullshit and buy a cheap game

I'm a teenager too, but I buy my games with TF2 tradins'.
Even though they're not AAA... they're still something :D

Because they are generous souls who want people to win games, rather than think only of themselves.

Who said they didn't give many thousands of dollars of various charities as well?

Life is about give and take . It does not mean that you give games so you have to take games !
You give & help people by giving them what makes them happy , and you might be rewarded with health or kids or Life saving ! .
Sorry for my english , but hope you got my point !

I think it does , To what we see here and Hearing the stories .
Also there is a famous saying that donating to a poor ( by money , food , cloths ...etc ) will help you evade a Death ( like surviving an accident ) . It`s all about religious and believes =) .

I'm new too, but i picked up on it within like a week, now i spend more time checking out the forums than checking out giveaways

You have been here for two weeks. I visited the boards on the first day I was here, even if I'm not that active.
Comment has been collapsed.
And yet you entered 300 giveaways in 2 weeks, I know where your priorities are. Look, it's just advice. I'm not telling you to get out, I'm just hoping you understand what makes the site work and don't treat this place like 90% of other people here.

A life lesson you should try to learn is that disagreement with your viewpoint isn't "hate". People are opposed to the concept of giving that you've presented. You don't necessarily have to get something in return. The act itself can have intrinsic value of its own accord both to you and others.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's your interpretation, no one hates you here. People give away games for many different reasons, I do it because I enjoy giving to people who deserve it. In return I get to have chances to receive games from them. It's a cycle that never really gains you much (in terms of games). But lets you make good friends and gives you that feeling of excitement when you win something.
Simply put, you give and you get.

I had only made 2 or 3 public giveaways before I got into a private giveaway group. Although I didn't deserve to really be there, my time spent in that group made me realise that there are good people out there who do deserve games. It's much easier to give to a community of people that you're familiar with, rather than just people who are only looking to take things.
Unfortunately, everyone needs to start with public giveaways. I just couldn't stand them anymore, too many ungrateful leechers now.

Because Steam Gifts is the biggest scam that has ever existed. Most of the people here are just CG's multiple accounts and he's just hoarding half of the wins for himself.
I will probably be dead by the end of tonight. Remember me.

You gave something that was free away, does't really count.

Really ?????
If you are a cheap person why should everyone be like you ???? If you don't want to give and be a leech then do so and don't complain to us about yourself being cheap.
JUST SHUT IT

because it feels good.
another reason, making friends
and yet another one, you make others happy
and also another reason, it's a giveaway website
did you get it ?

you said im cheap i want everyone to be like me, and im complaining about it, what i actually said was why di people spend over $2000 just to give a game to a random person when there are people starving in africa? im not complaining people can do what they want with there money its just seems like a strange thing to invest into

Here is one of these awesome users right now.
Thanks for keeping the site running. I dread to think what it would be like if people like you left. Nothing but free keys. D:

seriously bro, if you can't then don't bring it up and make much noise about it. Just lay low like others do and if you could and feel like it then make a giveaway. It's not a nuclear bomb blueprint but I think you should be able to understand it

When it's that much money I have a feeling they were free or otherwise acquired very cheap or well you know. I'm not accusing anyone it's just my opinion. I know people can be generous but with games? Eh.

Somehow the posts were deleted, so I'll just post it again. Don't remember the nickname of the user I was replying to, but she said she donated to charity the same or even more then she has contributed here.
Here's my post:
"Not a problem at all. Hope every contributor is at least like you. But still, if I could contribute like you guys do, I would give everything I could for charity instead. But, again, that's my particular principle and opinion. In my head it's kinda of an absurd to donate games while there are people needing basic things like food out there."
Comment has been collapsed.
That was me. No worries - I saw it in my replies list.
I do understand what you're saying, but personally, I think voluntary work has a much larger impact in the charity industry, so although I do donate to large charities such as Amnesty, I volunteer my spare time for charities specialising in social and health issues (eg. elderly, autism, homelessness). I think it's more worthwhile as you know exactly how you're helping. With money, that's not always the case. Just my opinion.

Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime. Donating to charity doesn't help people in need. All it does is make donators feel good about themselves.
