why do some people give away over $2000 worth of games?

Because they are generous people, who enjoy giving stuff to others? It's not always about getting a return.

First, most of them buy stuff on sale, so it isnt really $200.
Second, some give away lots of copies of just a few games that they really like and want others to enjoy.
Last, the same reason people give in any other aspect.

The only good reason to be contributor, imo, is to be able to enter on Contributor Only giveaways. Still, it's pretty rare to find them at high values like that.

People give just to give. Why did you give?

Because they are generous souls who want people to win games, rather than think only of themselves.

Life is about give and take . It does not mean that you give games so you have to take games !

You give & help people by giving them what makes them happy , and you might be rewarded with health or kids or Life saving ! .

Because Steam Gifts is the biggest scam that has ever existed. Most of the people here are just CG's multiple accounts and he's just hoarding half of the wins for himself.

lol if you want something back for your contribution, then you should rather leave this site and go trade your games. I can already see you taking a cold shower after people offer you Dota 2 or nothing for your exploited keys.

When it's that much money I have a feeling they were free or otherwise acquired very cheap or well you know. I'm not accusing anyone it's just my opinion. I know people can be generous but with games? Eh.

Basically, whenever I have nothing else to use my money on, giveaways occur, but only to those who deserve it, I try my best.

Somehow the posts were deleted, so I'll just post it again. Don't remember the nickname of the user I was replying to, but she said she donated to charity the same or even more then she has contributed here.

"Not a problem at all. Hope every contributor is at least like you. But still, if I could contribute like you guys do, I would give everything I could for charity instead. But, again, that's my particular principle and opinion. In my head it's kinda of an absurd to donate games while there are people needing basic things like food out there."
