Just curious about that. i like the fact that you now can return games when you don't like them. i did that two times so far(nidhogg and 7 days to die= weren't fun to me)- but with that in my mind I do buy more often though.
What about you people? Which games did you return and why? Or at all?

3 or 4

"Miscreated" and "Survival: Postapocalypse Now" were the last 2.

Miscreated could not connect to any server. The devs said they were working on it but 24h later i was still unable to connect.

As for Survival, it was full of bugs literally full but as usually i am expecting it on a Early Access game. I asked for a refund as the spawn points were fixed and just 5 on the whole map (perfect for spawnkillers)...

Quiet a few but only because I either got a coupon for it later or it ended up being bundled. I've actually got the following message on my last refund: "You've requested a significant number of refunds recently. If you're unsure about a product, make sure to check out the customer reviews before purchasing."

I refunded Watch Dogs recently, it wasn't terrible from what I could tell, but it ran poorly on my computer.

I buy on sale after I read reviews to make sure the game is good and trouble free, then if I don't start playing the game after buying I usually idle it for the cards. The stars would really need to align for me to refund on a game. It would need to be a game that is (1) without cards, (2) is so new that there are no reviews and reports of problems, and (3) that would still lure me to be an early adopter and pay full price for. I'm planning to buy Downfall on release day, so if that game is somehow a failure I may refund it (slim chance though).

I completely agree with everything. I also take those steps for good measure and make sure only to buy what I know I both truly want and will appreciate. (:

This stars would really need to align for me to as for a refund on a game.

This sums it up nicely.

Just noticed I had a bunch of typos (corrected now), but I guess the gist of it did pass :-)

Why would I want to refund a game?

Comment has been collapsed.

There are several reasons:

  1. You bought it and the day after it went on sale.
  2. You bought it and can't run it.
  3. You bought it and it's a bad game.
  4. You bought it and then find out your friend actually isn't getting it.
  5. You bought it then decided you'd rather buy X instead.

The list could go on but I mean there are reasons someone might want to refund a game :P

I guess number 1 is the only valid reason for me.

Yep, everyone has their own reasons, and I don't even think my list includes nearly all the possibilities :)

Yeah, I just like to do my homework before buying a game, you know. :P

I do know what you mean though ^.^

I think number 1 is not a valid reason at all. Steam even says it in their rules that that could lead to a punishment (at least something along those lines). You are not allowed to refund a game, to buy it immediatly again because it's on sale. I think 2 is the only valid reason. Number 1 is just bad luck, no reason to refund for me.

I meant that number 1 is the only reason I could possibly use to refund. As for number 2, there are system requirements for a reason.

False. 'We do not consider it abuse to request a refund on a title that was purchased just before a sale and then immediately rebuying that title for the sale price.'

Really? I guess I read it the wrong way then. Still, I don't think that is a valid reason to refund and will never do that. It might be shit if it happens, but shit happens in life.

Well, everyone will have his/her circumstances. If they're low on cash, and don't have that much money to spend on games in general, it is a nice way to be able to save some $$ for different games in the future.

0, Haven't encountered a game that broken ( none that I actually bought and not got free) to refund. I generally do my research on a game, before I buy it. Also if I am unsure I can run it, I turn into a scurry dog and pirate it. Since there is a lack of demos nowadays, if it works fine I buy it. Tho, since it don't have a toaster anymore I don't have to worry too much about if I can run it :). Damn toaster taking 10 years to load anything.

Never did returned anything till now... if I can't run something I usually just wait till I can in the future (new rig, etc)... that's what happened for my purchase of Starships and Kaijuu A-go-go, couldn't run it at all early on, but now I got a new rig and can finally run em, lol.

Have yet to meet something so bad I would want a refund... fingers crossed.
