Dwarf Hamsters

Smaller than a regular rodent, takes up less space and less effort to care for and lives 3-4 years max. Deadly cute though

Not as cool as a miniature giant space hamster, though

Snails or Ants. I prefer snails so I can eat them. Yeah I can eat the ants too but I like snails better.

I have allergies so I had to look for less common pets.
My favourites are ferrets and parrots. Ferrets are quite expensive and so are parrots but maybe you can adopt one.
Ferrets are kinda like cats as far as taking care of them goes. They do their thing in a box, you clean it, you feed them, bath them, cut their nails every now and then... They're really playful and I guess they're more like dogs in that sense. They need some space and you should not have them in a cage but you can have a cage for them and let them out for like 4 hours a day and they'll be happy. Ideally you can just put them in there at night. You gotta care about them getting into dangerous places, though. It's like a better version of a bunny.
There's many kinds of parrots. Some are big and cool, some are tiny and cute. Some are as expensive as a car some are really cheap. Some live for 80 years some for 15. Thing is, they're smart and fun to play with. They are not the kind of pet you wanna get if you wanna mess around with them all day because they get tired somewhat quickly given their size and that stuff but they're not like some people think, a bird you put in a cage and watch as he sits in there, like a plant. Don't do that, you'll make it go crazy. Parrots are too intelligent for that shit. You need to take care of them and they need you to be around. They need some work as far as cleaning things go... And you'll need to be careful when you play with it because they poo every 10-30 min depending on their size, after a while you kinda learn when they're about to do it and you just move them back to their cage then keep doing whatever you're doing. They also can get hurt by various things around the house and are allergic to some things, you gotta look those things up and know what to do unless you want to play with a dead pet. I like Green Cheeked Conures and Indian Ringnecks, they're on the small and cheap side but they are still really nice. Trust me, you don't want a bigger parrot. They are cool and all but they belong with experts and not with new owners. Parrots are fragile and you gotta learn about them before getting one.
I lost my train of thought. I hope that was enough to give you an idea.

Parakeets (budgie) or cockatiels are small birds and are easy to take care of, but they can be noisy. I'd avoid anything in a tank with water as it can get dirty real fast.

Whatever it is, adopt. Give the gift of opportunity to some homeless and needing creature.

I would recommend a rat or hamster. My friend had both, and the rat is the easiest. Their both easy to take care of and don't require much money to take care of either. The only issue is that you won't be close to a rat or hamster, you love them; but they simply just aren't domestic enough. Their a come-and-go type of pet, they last around 3 years; and then their gone.

The rats I had were as happy to see me when I got home as social dog. They would climb up the bars on their cage and just stare at me until I had scratched them behind their ears. They just loved attention (and food!). If I did not give them any attention when I got home they would eventually start to make noise (scratch on things, jump around and so on), in an attempt to get my attention.

Go to your local shelter and take a dog from there.

a guinea pig. Easy to take care of but could be costy for a first buy. OR you could buy a parrot. I have two Quakers, they are extremely easy to take care of and very fun. If you buy it when it's a baby (1 month old) and feed it by hand, you can teach it to walk and fly to you non stop. guinea pig needs to be cleaned 2-3 times a day and checked regularly for diseases, but other than that it's an amazing pet which loves to cuddle.

Hey guys, so I am going to be purchasing a pet soon. I am 15 years old and my parents are letting me purchase an animal. I am using my own money (about 100 dollars) and am buying everything for it. I don't want anything like a dog or a cat, those are too much of a commitment and too costly. I want something that is easy to take care of, but it doesn't have to be ridicoulously easy to take care of. I want an animal that you could handle and befriend easily, not something like a fish. If you have any suggestions, that would be great.
P.S. If you could also give some info on how to take care of them, that would be great too. Personal stories are great.
Edit: Perhaps I should make something clear because some of these comments are rather hostile towards me. I am VERY friendly towards animals and I would never not take care of one. I had a pair of pet rats who lived beyond their average age and died. I want something that isn't too much work, but that doesn't mean I oppose work. I think I will get a pair of guinea pigs. I have a huge cage lined up for them with many toys and I have already read a ton on them.
