I see this thread is already two weeks old, but I noticed today -- same for me. Ffrosteh, fauren, you ever found a solution, or did it ever start working again?

I can only say that I'm experiencing the same issue. It used to be that entering several giveaways for the same game would cause that game to appear on my Recommended list, but no more.
Other games appear, but not ones that I've been entering for. I don't know why, but I noticed this issue started last month (at least 3-4 weeks ago).

No ideas here, I certainly changed nothing on my end lately. I haven't been using the site as much as I used to, or I probably would have noticed earlier -- I use Recommended quite a bit.
Wondering if it's only a handful of us, or if it's more widespread -- but if it were, and many people are using the Recommended list, I would expect more comments/threads. Weird.

To be honest now Im starting to wonder what the algorithm for recommended page is... it did show the ones I entered previously - but now its filled with some giveaways for games I havent entered once and shrinking slowly
Maybe I'm just entering only wishlist page giveaways and its filling with whatevers left so maybe thats the reason ..

Same is happening to me. I noticed this at the same time the "Multiple Copies", "DLC" and "Group" browsing categories were added a couple of weeks back.
I assume they also introduced some change in how the "Recommended" category works, either intentionally or not.
Can someone confirm this?
Now the "Recommended" category is pretty useless in my opinion.

I believe that discussion categorization change was around the same time as when the Deals and Discussions sections were swapped, so that'd have been just before this thread, in late April. That was about when Recommended stopped working [in any useful manner] for me, as well. Likewise, that'd more-or-less line up with the timeframe Timobkg mentioned above. So it does seem likely that it was that set of (rather inexplicable) site tweaks that are to blame for the matter.

It's been months since it broke, I hope they will fix the "recommended" giveaways category or remove it entirely

Yes, a months ago when you entered +4 times at same game, the game went to recommended category (although only for a short time), but now is broken.
Some time ago I suggested to add an icon to each game to mark it and it will be fixed to show always in a new category or in recommended category, and it would be like a internal whistlist of steamgift, being able also to unmark each game for remove of category.
Hopefully something like this will be implemented in the future.

It seems that it was personalized in the sense that if you entered a bunch of GAs for the same game it would show up in the recommended tab. But, sometimes random games I had never entered GAs for appeared. I always assumed it was something like you're saying because those tended to be popular games.

In the recommended giveaways filter, I usually get recommended GAs for games I've entered a few GAs for recently. However, this tab is no longer populating with games even if I enter a bunch of GAs for a certain game. Anyone else having this issue?
