^This. I didn't know hammers had edges to sharpen. These banhammers must be of a different kind.

I thought banhammers worked better when blunt. Live and learn, I guess... Here's a +1 internet whetstone. May it serve you well.

Thanks I checked out and listened to some WarZ related videos in his channel. The way he presents himself seems very intelligent, level-headed, and in a way that tries to be as objective as possible (given what may be considered frustrating circumstances), and for that reason I am inclined to afford some credibility to his words, whereas I might not know what to believe if it were handled in a different manner.

All I'm going to say is that is a stupid thing to say and is exactly what sets people off into huge arguments. If you don't like it, you are allowed to criticise. If you can't come up with anything good to counter critiques, especially if they happen to be constructive, then maybe, just maybe, those people have a point. "Don't like, don't watch/read/play" is the last resort of someone desperate to defend something they like but who isn't capable enough to actually defend it.

If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. What do you gain by badmouthing anything? Can't people make their own decisions? You're not complaining to the developers, which you have every right to do, instead you complain to strangers on the internet, which only makes sense if you are harboring some kind of grudge.

Or... you know... you're giving your opinion of it to others who might be curious about buying it. If all I heard was positive information about something because no-one said anything except to the developers, then I buy that something and find it's a worthless piece of garbage, I'm going to be pissed at wasting my money, aren't I? Discussion of flaws in a game, regardless of overall quality, is something to be encouraged, so that people can learn from that, find out if they can live with those flaws, discuss ways around flaws, give tips on what not to do for anyone thinking about making a similar product.
If you don't have anything nice to say, bloody say it anyway, constructively if you can, or your silence is worse than mindless praise. It's simple to tell the trolls (both the mindless destructive criticism and mindless praise varieties) from the people who are actually reviewing the game based on their own standards.
What do you gain by being silent? Nothing, but others can lose something.
I was going to buy The War Z. It looked like an interesting product, a good other side of the coin to DayZ for if I wanted a change. However, I looked around, saw things I didn't like about it because of other people posting about the things they disliked about it. If I didn't do that, I'd have wasted my money on what looks like, frankly, a steaming pile of crap. £10 may not be a lot to a lot of you, but it's almost a week's wage for me and that would mount up rapidly if I bought every game I was curious about without researching it. Thanks to the criticism, I decided not to spend that money. Instead, I'm reinstalling DayZ, a free mod that cost nothing but buying a game which I was already interested in and already did the research on to find out if it was for me.

My friend told me the concept of the game was really good and I read up a little on the concept behind the game and thought it sounded really neat, I would be interested to know about peoples objective experiences as I am interested in the game and didn't know there were issues so great we had two opposing factions.
I'm not seeing any real information just people looking for some drama :(
I had thought however the game was still in the beta stages and you were paying to play in the beta stages? Am I correct or is the website just misleading?

It's not misleading, just hasn't been put in the game yet. The game is meh right now. I'd sway people off of buying it until it's done. I mean it's just Ok. For a 14 dollar game, it's like a cheaper Dayz. With what they are planning it sounds great but it's still Alpha so if you do get it expect many no so great changes till they get it right.

Honestly, with all the drama & controversy surrounding the game my suggestion would be to just avoid it and wait for DayZ standalone to be released, which should be 'soon'. They were shooting (and still are I believe) for an end-of-year release, however it is possible that it may slip into early 2013. Even when it does come out it will probably still be considered beta and my guess is that they likely will not have longer-term goals/objectives in the game just yet. The 'end game' stuff needs to be conceptualized and implemented though to give the game more depth, challenge, and longevity beyond just surviving the environment & zombies, and subsequently encounters with other survivors (players). If I were to have any criticism of DayZ (as the mod for Arma II currently stands?) it would be this lack of 'late-game' content. That being said, it would still be a fun, cool, and unique (if somewhat incomplete) survival experience, and as someone who has been following the development of the title I have confidence in the people behind it to continue evolving it and making it into an even better game.
Note: I have never played DayZ myself but I have talked to people who have and have watched many videos on it

I just watched TB's Video
The game is shit. Period

Ouch. Just finished it. I was thinking of buying that a year or so down the line, but... wow. No, there's no redeeming that even if everything else is proven false about it.

The War Z is damn straight cool, but the options should be better and it should have a wider span of machines it can run on. And I mean PC only, smart one.

I think most of us here are aware of the, shall we say, varying opinions regarding The War Z. I just want to make it clear that discussion of the game is fine and, indeed, encouraged. If something fishy is going on, people have a right to know. However, as that Steam Community link shows, these discussions rapidly devolve into two sides: The War Z Defence Force, rolling out from Hammerpoint Interactive HQ, and the Stick It To The Man And Make Accusations Without Evidence Party. From there on, it is just who can insult each other more pathetically. This has already spread to SteamGifts.
This is not okay.
