my youtube views suddenly dropped?

Yesterday I took 3 number twos on the crapper and today I took just one!
Anyone know what is going on?

Essentially, it looks like basic audits of views so that views from one IP, only loading the video, but not actually watching, etc get filtered out. Leaving only the "real" views. Based off of just skimming a couple searches...too tired to actually be helpful. :/

However, I second that this should be in the off-topic category.

Views are not an exact count, so stop worrying so much about it. Youtube has content servers all over the world and it's quite a feat to count views from all over and then try to distinguish unique views from that, and it will simply never be perfect or exact - it's just an approximation.

People finally decided to commit suicide after watching more then 1 of your videos so youtube closed their accounts and removed the views :?

Bot accounts were removed. Or youtube is just a little buggy with views and subscribers hence the old 301 views.

I've heard that's entirely normal for Youtube postings.

On some videos, the view count might seem frozen or not show all the views that you expect. Video views are algorithmically validated to maintain fair and positive experiences for content creators, advertisers, and users. To verify that views are real and accurate, YouTube may temporarily slow down, freeze, or adjust the view count

From one support response:

View counts fluctuate as they are verified and after a video is released it can be noticeable. It's possible you, fans or friends viewed the video, over and over. Waiting around 24 hours for views to verify will usually result in an accurate count.

Apparently views are monitored after a video is initially posted, with only "quality" views being counted- that's likely why you didn't notice any drops until this point. After the video has been established, the automatic evaluation kicks in, and is apparently balanced out every 24 hours.

You can adjust the category or close the thread by clicking the green "Open" in the top right.
Alternatively, the community on the whole seems to accept any thread with giveaways in it as qualifying for the 'general' category.
