As far as I know it wasn't. Maybe people were trying to give away their free copies from Gog Connect... I honestly wouldn't be surprised about that.

Yea I know :D But we've had people trying to giveaway Origin- & uPlay keys, games from their own Libary and in one case even a link to a torrent site. Why not GOG ? :D

Well as long as they they send a gift (key) to the winner as well, pointing out where you can get a DRM free copy for everyone else would be a nice thing but I guess that's not what you mean :D
The most recent one was a new group (actually 2 but both from the same person) making 3 GTA V GAs and 2 Fallout 4 to promote their group and then messaging the winner to mark as received (without sending the game) or they will reroll.

that really puts my hackles up - like it would have hurt them to just do some older AAA game giveaways, or even bundled giveaways; but no they waste everyones time and effort by doing that

Yea there are so many games that are not that expensive anymore but will still draw a decent crowd still we regularly see those AAA fake GAs to promote groups. And the sad thing is since nobody really expects to win one of those 10k entries GAs, hardly anyone checks up on it after if the gift was delivered and leaves those shitty groups again.

Luckily the winner of the the public GTA V GA that has already ended was familiar enough with the rules to them they can't reroll without a reason and will just mark the game as not received but that still won't keep other people from doing it again.
Maybe new users shouldn't be allowed to make Group GAs untill their first 3 gifts have been marked as received.

The only thing I can find about it being free was a DRM-Free (not Steam key) version about 3 months ago from Playfield.
