I've been scammed off a Lime Flared Frontiersman and I contacted support if I could receive my item back. Well they said it was impossible to do so but they also said :

"We will investigate this user and take appropriate action. Please note that you will not receive a notification about any action taken as a result of this report."

So you can contact Steam Support to deal with this person, but they might not help out with your hat.

Sadly, steam doesn't bother with scams, only automated VAC bans and i don't see how they can automate bans for scams.

They don't even have enough manpower for their support so i don't think they will accept scam reports anytime soon as they do take a lot longer to process and they wont benefit from it.

The only way to prevent getting scammed is to check steamrep, steamtrades and other rep sites. Also, make sure they are not new accounts that suddenly get a bunch of reps. There are cases where people trade a lot and does charge backs. Or, credit card frauds.

How did you get scammed? Steam item or key etc..?
